I suspect he'll be the other side of the coin to Allerdyce.

Football might well be prettier, but the backroom revolution will be stopped or even possible reverted.

End result being not dissimilar in outcome.

So we now basically just appoint the English manager who is most upset after not getting the England job.

And under investigation and who won't speak to MOTD.

Most of the managers wont speak to MoTD now, even Fergie!

i personally think it would be another sideways step and because he's not a big name with a particularly good track record, we are unlikely to be any more patient with him than we were with allardyce.

So is that a yes or a no?

i will back him if he gets the job, and i hope we give him more than half a season to see what he can do if he does get it but he it is not an appointment i welcome, no.

He will probably be a significant improvement in short-term especially by applying more positive tactics, but long term I don't think he will take the club further forward than Allardyce probably would have done given time. I can't see Redknapp being able to restore the the club to the level where it was under Robson (or earlier), though as with all recent appointments I hope to be proven wrong.

I would agree with that. Appy Arry just doesn't have that kind of persona which points to champions league contender. Unless Ashley throws so much money at him it would be impossible to fail. Look at Avram Grant at Chelsea...if he never turned up for work for a year they'd still be in the top 4 with that squad.

Anyone who thinks this is a good appointment and that it will go any other way than the previous three managers' reigns is deluded IMO. We will be back to square one soon.

my feelings on the matter too. i was hoping our new chairman would be more ambitious than this. hope i'm wrong like but it's hard to get excited about another second rate english manager.

i don't understand why can't we look abroad tbh

Excellent, we've become a club that is run under the advice of a mate from Spurs. Are we just going to do everything they try?

Question, if Rednapp turned down Spurs and he likes living down south, why on earth would he move here? The idea of our manager flying up from the south coast is ridiculous.

Where is he going to fly from? Farnborough? That'll take an hour to reach from the south coast. Then and hour or so in the air (I used to do a weekly flight from Wharton in the North West to Farnborough) plus about an hour at the other end to get to SJP. Where will he land? Is there a little airport in Ponteland or something? (or am I confusing that with somewhere else?). Either way, about 3hrs travelling each way. I can't see him walking his dogs much.

Even our chairman has relocated for the foreseeable future so the idea of the manager not doing so is beyond belief; and that's before we actually talk about what we could resonably expect form him in terms of performance.

Utter.fucking.madness.

don't want him, don't think he'll catapult us up the league, don't think he'll sign wonderful players.

But I'll support him, because that's what supporters do*

Sad indictment of the support if that's the case.

By welcome do you mean to be pleased with his appointment or support him in the job?

In answer to that (which is what the poll should have really contained):

Pleased with his appointment? NO

Support him in the job? YES (for the time being)

This for me, think if this is to be the appointment, weve maybe missed yet another chance to appoint a TOP manager, and it certainly aint "blown my socks off", but if it is Old Droopy will give him 100% backing... and pray................................................ till he inevitably fucks it up
