My biggest worry is whether Ashley and Mort know enough about football to make the right decision. Neither of them have any experience in doing something like this. As I said in another thread I hope to god they are getting some advice from someone more knowlegeable than them.

That said the names most football pundits are throwing up wouldn't inspire much confidence either.

Tom, do I get the feeling youre one of the people who the media and other fans laugh at?

"We want entertaining football we dont care if we loose, we just want entertaining, ala Liverppol 4-3"

Stupid, I want to fucking win!!!

I do care if we lose. I would take less exciting football (although not as dull as Allardyce) if it meant winning something. I'm just idealist/greedy I suppose. I want to win, but I want to do it in style.

We weren't winning many games under Allardyce though and just scraping the ones we did get against crap sides. The reason the football was dull was because we were shit. If we were a good team we would by definition be playing much more entertaining football.

I don't think the team is shit, I think the problem was that Allardyce set up the team was shit. Players in the wrong positions, the midfield stifled of creativity etc. You have point though, if the players wrre playing where they should be and if the midfield had a bit of creativity in there - ie if Emre played more often, we may well see better football. But even so, Allardyce's so called success at Bolton still produced dull football.

The tumbling odds on Hughes is worrying, and as for McLaren... well, he wouldnt would he? surely?

Purely based on 'Arry ruling himself out would be my guess.

Isn't the answer to our lack of creativity in the midfield but neither was wanting to buy Diarra and Nolan.

I honestly don't know what we are worrying about - Ashleys best mate is paul kelmsley and when tottingham decided to make a change they simply went out and got the bloke with the best cv that could produce thr type of football they were after - done and dusted - and i am sure he will look at that and think he can do the same.

Can't see it being jol or hughes (jol because of the tottenham link and hughes because he has won nowt) Mclaren is an arse and shearer is a stupid risk (certainly when a £250m investment is at stake.

As far as redknapp is concerned he may well be able to organise the team and win the players over and produce some good football and results - its not rocket science and our players are not as shite as the recent woeful displays would indicate.

My personal view is that a hard nosed aggressive business type like ashley wants a top guy - will stop at nothing to get him and as a result will back him and we will move forward and all this hullabaloo will be forgotten.

Barring the top 4, Villa and as you say Tottenham are run by hard nosed businessmen. So we could still end up 7th. Plus even idiots like the corrupt Thai know that money talks.

good post. Lets hope so. Ashley seems to know what he's doing as a businessman, so I'm hopeful he'll make a better appointment than old idiot brain ever did.

I won't even pretend to know what the city thinks of him although I've heard he's a bit of a maverick which probably ruffles a few feathers. As for Sports Direct, the floatation didn't go to plan. Are you seriously suggesting a bloke who is now a billionaire after starting with next to nowt and leaving school at 16 isn't business savvy though?

Conceeding that Mike Ashley is business savvy wouldn't fit in with Dan's whinging agenda though :icon_lol:

Sports Direct flotation exceeded expectations by all accounts. As has been said, he's not the common-old-garden type of businessman - he does it his way which does look a bit maverick and leftfield but there's absolutely no doubt he's a success in his field.

Moyes being mentioned on SSN and talkSport.

Kenwright has just denied it, saying Moyes has a big part to play in the future of Kirkby Tesco FC.

I'm pleased Moyes is now being linked because if nothing else it supports my notion the press haven't got a fucking clue who we're after.

No. I'm not saying I know. I'm suggesting that by throwing up new names every hour or so, the press are in the dark. Did that really need clarifying though?

fucking hell man. i'm sure it used to be fun exchanging banter with you

sports direct has lost over two-thirds of its value since it floated and in their last results presser, ashley accused a merril anlyst of being a moron.

so my point was that despite his obvious sucess, he's viewed as a bit of a joke in the city....and sd shareholders don't view him in the best light

Eh? The price has been on the slide since the IPO and shares are now worth less than a third of their initial value, hence why Ashley has been buying them back. To say the floatation has been a disaster would be closer to the mark.
