Jimbo 175
You can have your flouncey Beckham/Roberto Carlos swerving freekicks, its about time some credit and appreciation was given to the Shearer style rocket freekick. No need to cover your bollocks or make an attempt to jump if you are in the line defending a Beckham freekick, no bravery envolved at all, you know that fucker will swerve and bend and you'll be nowhere near it. A Shearer on the otherhand, you are going to face that ball coming at you at 100miles an hour and a good chance, if you are unlucky, your testicals might be on the end of it. Its high time the Shearer freekick got the credit it deserves.

Just a matter of finding the gap. Though having said that, having seen the replays I'm still amazed he managed to do that!

Has to be seen in the true context of him taking 1000 free kicks per game and missing nearly all of them by a country mile. Complete fluke! Renton 21983
Shearer's first goal for us at SJP was nice as well. I wonder why he stopped the curling free kicks? It's not like increasing age should affect him too much. Maybe he just likes hurting people.

But you can't deny that free kick was possibly the best ever, and as I am sure he intended it, it was no fluke.

sweetleftpeg 0
Ah, little Roberto. He used to watch me take the very same free kicks on the streets of Shields as a lad. I don't know why he plays for Brazil like, he lived in Shiremoor as a kid, rough as owt his family were.
