Now, due to the media bandwagon...

I think some have been taking a more measured approach these last few days, spouting the patience line so they can say how fickle we are. Still lots of shite though, suprised to see a suprisingly balanced piece from our Louise this morning...

"I'm pleased with my players but we stood off Newcastle a bit in the first half. We were a little bit in awe of them at first, which was a little disappointing, but they've got a smashing team with players like Owen, [Mark] Viduka and Duff.

...as opposed to that other Viduka "Clive" who also plays for us? :D

Definitely think Zoggy is worthy of a spell in the middle, I've said so since the Juventus friendly tbh.... mysticmegtastic]

I don't think N'Zogbia's got the range of passing to be as good in the middle as he is out-wide. He'd probably be better than pretty much the rest of the squad there though.

I don't think any of our squad has any range of passing at all which you could see yesterday when they gave us time and space on the ball and we didn't have a clue what to do it.

Going back to the original point, this has been my view for quite some time. Until Shearer gets the job a large section of the crowd (and while I agree there does seem to be a few more now who are taking the view that we need to give Allardyce until the end of the season there are still a good number who believe he's had more than enoughh time and should be gone immediately) will not give anyone a fair amount of time to turn things round.

The only thing you hope is that he might actually be up to the job, no one could know the answer to that at the moment though.

I'm also not sure what people want Shearer to come out and say to try and put the rumours to bed. He's made it clear he would love to manage us one day so really if he now says no I don't want it yet would anyone really believe him? I seriously doubt it. He's employed as a pundit by the BBC and he is a legend to this club so they are obviously going to have him talk about us. I'm sorry but until he has done the job and either failled or succeded he will always be there in the backround and there's nothing anyone can do about it unless Ashley or Mort were to come out and say he's not someone they would ever consider.

I will say this though, isn't it brilliant how all the papers over the last few days were full of comment on how we need to stick it out with Allardyce, how we're too trigger happy with managers and should learn to support through the bad as well as the good, but 7 (is it?) other clubs have got rid of their managers this season, some higher in the league, without half the condescending column inches.

Haven't we already shown ourselves to be one of the most patient clubs/sets of fans?

How many of those were appointed in the summer though? (Genuine question)

Sod it, I ain't got time for this kind of research.

Sammy Lee, Chris Hutchings and Lawrie Sanchez couldn't have got more than 20 games.

Mourinho and Jol weren't new, or Bruce.

Who am I forgetting?

Jol. I think only the first two came in the summer with Sanchez being near the end of last season iirc.

Edit: Oops, you said Jol. Erm....

Billy Davies had one full season at Derby when he got them promoted.

If I was a championship manager in the playoffs I'd throw the final for job security.

I know, what did they expect exactly? Then Jewell goes there (who I like btw) and then basically says they're not good enough and will presumably be manager next season no matter what.

How many of those clubs have gone through the same number of managers as we have in the past 15 years though?

That's some serious research there.

How many clubs would put up with performances as continually as shite as ours ?

Spurs must've had twice as many.

Rule 2.B Section 4

When Highlighting Faults of an Under achieving club, criticising the supporters, manager, owner and Chairman one must make sure the club in question is not London based or the entire press industry will collapse.

How many of those clubs or how clubs in total?

also given that 10 of those years were under Keegan and Robson where we played football that many many teams would be jealous of.

Other the KK and SBR we've had another 5 managers (not including caretakers), 7 in 15 years... that's fucking ridiculous when two held the position for ten years between them. 5 in 5 years...

OK lets stick with a inept manager just to make you feel better about how many managers we've had.

Take out all the long serving managers at many premier league clubs and you could come up with similar ridiculous stats.

Jimbo man, for the love of God I'm not happy that we're 11th, IU'm not happy that we've been poor. But surely this proves that changing the manager isn't conducive to better performances. We've have mangers who've shown promise or who have experience, and they've all fallen foul of excessive expectations given the situation we're in.

But, ok, lets chop and change managers at your whim, just to make you feel better about this club no longer being a title challenger.

Put it this was, in 7 games we will b very close to the relegation zone and many will be calling for his head, watch this space lol 2 points off relegation after 28 games in the season will be majorly dissapointing in my eyes.

ok Nobby Sol, I ask you this.

is there any evidence what so ever that changing the manger will guarantee that we won't be there?

is there evidence to the contrary?

is there any evidence that keeping the manager will be a sucess. Is there any evidence he will keep us in the league. Its all a matter of opinion hence the reason for the site. Im just saying in 7 games time i think you might be calling for his head just like many others.
