Jimbo 175
If he's not going to be allowed to spend the money to bring in the players he wants, you might as well sack him now. Agreed, despite my feelings about Allardyce, I believe the club should either give him their full backing or get rid.
RlCO 0
If the squad can be improved by players that are available at a fair price, then of course Mort/Ashley/allerdyce should be trying to buy them. Why is this even a question? Because if he blows £30 million on shit then gets the sack at the end of the season (which in my opinion is looking likely) then, well, we'll have £30m pounds worth of shit footballers the next manager probably wont fancy. One of the things that gets on my goat is the pro-Allardyce supporters keep spouting that he's only spent 12m pounds so far at Newcastle but the truth is he's had upwards of 25m and honestly look at the players he brought to the club?!?? It appears he's a manager that just can't be trusted with a large budget, give him a pitance and he's more likely to fluke a reasonable tranfer or two. There is no budget, he picks targets and gets a yes or no from Mort. You've said that before but there's obviously a 'budget'. Obvious in so far as he won't be given £100m. Going on BSA and Morts comments this is how it works. Are you saying that in secret Mort has told BSA he has £X m to spend? Maybe he has, I don't know. The fact you concede there is a limit suggests there is a budget. It's all semantics though. I would imagine they've already discussed potential targets and how high they would bid for each etc. That's a budget even if they haven't said you have precisely £30m to spend or whatever. Not in any normal sense of the word. Of course it is you tit. So if BSA identifies 5 £1m rated players and Mort agrees none should go over £1m, then the budget is £5m; but if he identifies 5 £2m rated players, is he then going to double the 'budget' ? You set a budget before identifyng targets, if you'regoing to set one, setting it afterwards is negotiation strategy.

What would be the point in sacking him now? Put yourself in Mort's shoes, wouldn't it make more sense to let Allardyce work with his squad till the summer and see if he's worth backing before blowing your wad? By then you might also have targeted a suitable replacement if that hasn't happened. Plus it keeps the media off your back who will undoubtedly scream blue murder if Sam gets sacked after 6 months. We aren't Chelsea where it's ok to sack a legend like Mourinho because the owner wants to be entertained.

Tbh we're not that short anywhere in the squad (though it could be argued we lack a creative midfielder) so I'd say Sam has had his chance in the summer transfer window and if he can't improve the current squad above the mediocre level we're currently at then he shouldn't be our manager. Big TRon 0
http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcast...-name_page.html The Sunday Sun has us linked with Nolan. Doesn't mean much, but if there's any truth in it, Mort would be advised to keep the wallet closed IMO.

Dr Gloom 21923
i think the board have to back him. we're clearly in need of player or two especially as we have to contend with the african nation/barton's off-field dramas/smith being total shite etc

If I was in charge of the budget and he bought 3-4 Africans in the Summer, knowing full well that they would all be off for a month. Then demand money for replacements. I know where I would tell him to stick it !

wykikitoon 20140
We desperatley need a creative midfielder and a striker. Owen was SHITE tonight.
Ken 119
I expect Sam to be able to bring in one or two players in January. All the top managers are reluctant to buy in January for obvious reasons and we should be no different. But come in June we should be buying players left right and centre. Players who are better than what we already have.
