khay 10
NEWCASTLE United have confirmed that goalkeeper Tim Krul will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Falkirk - but Andy Carroll is back on Tyneside after his temporary stay at Preston North End has come to an end. Dutch U21 starlet Krul has made 23 appearances for Falkirk north of the border, with The Bairns currently sitting in a comfortable sixth position in the SPL. Striker Carroll, meanwhile, has signed off at Preston after seven starts and five sub outings. He netted once, in a 1-1 draw with Leicester City, during his time with the struggling Championship outfit.
David Kelly 1280
Good to see Krul looks like he's doing well up there but Caroll seems to have been pretty unsuccessfull at Preston.

Shearergol 0
shame about carrol. we could do with a youngster high on confidence coming back into the squad He was shite at Preston by all accounts. Got sent off at Scunny for kicking out at a player who was already on the ground.
Barney 0
I thought Carroll would do better than that. Roeder and a Scottish team are after him apparently. Good news about Krul though.
bawan 0
Carroll's performances were probably down to the fact that he didn't want to be at Preston, he is usually out and about town on a Friday and Saturday night, I've seen him a good few times. acrossthepond 899
Ridiculous I know, but whenever I think of Carroll I think of him scoring seven against my QPR side on FM2008. Not sure why he hasn't pulled his weight over there, Preston have lacked a solid goalscorer with the loss of Nugent. But that's what loans are for I reckon, gaining experience. Krul's doing well apart from a thrashing off Celtic if I remember correctly.
sammynb 3640
Krul's doing well apart from a thrashing off Celtic if I remember correctly. All reports are it might of been a thrashing but without Krul it would have been far worse.
ohhh_yeah 2991
Krul got sent off yesterday, didnt he? Ford condemns Falkirk's on-loan Newcastle keeper Krul for his 'Dida-like' antics By BRIAN MARJORIBANKS Simon Ford last night blasted the time-wasting theatrics of red-carded Falkirk goalkeeper Tim Krul - by comparing him to shamed AC Milan star Dida. The Newcastle United keeper, whose loan deal at the Bairns has been extended to the end of the season, was ordered off in tandem with Frazer Wright after an injury-time bust-up with the Kilmarnock defender. Stretching the point: Kilmarnock's Ford felt Krul didn't need to be carried off The pair were dismissed after Wright slid in late in a desperate attempt to grab an equaliser and the enraged Krul responded by punching the Killie player. But Dutchman Krul angered the Rugby Park players and fans by going down in what appeared to be a deliberate attempt to waste time before leaving on a stretcher as Falkirk held on for a 1-0 win. Wright's defensive partner Ford claimed the Falkirk keeper's actions were reminiscent of the shameful over-reaction of Dida, who fell to the deck when brushed by a 'fan' who had invaded the pitch to celebrate Celtic's winning goal against Milan in October. Ford said: "The keeper might have been hurt but he played on it a bit. He was rolling around, going back down again and then being stretchered off. I am disappointed with that part of his game and it was almost Dida-like. You don't want to see that in football. "I am disappointed but I know he was trying to play for time and trying to do the best for his team. I'm sure when he looks back at the footage, though, he will be a little bit embarrassed. "I was disappointed with Krul for the whole game because I think he started wasting time even in the first half. He was trying to play for time and trying to take the sting out of the game." In the aftermath of a fiery match, Falkirk boss John Hughes angrily accused Wright of deliberately targeting Krul during the game. But Ford leapt to the defence of his team-mate, although he admitted he could understand why Krul had lashed out at the former Stranraer man. "Frazer is not a dirty player," Ford insisted. "He thought he had a chance of getting the ball or even a spill. He was a bit too late in his eagerness to get an equaliser and that has done for him. "But it had been bubbling up throughout the game. Frazer likes to wind players up, get in their faces and give them a knock here and there. He also takes it as well. There is nothing malicious in it. It is part and parcel of the way he plays the game. "He rushed in, seeing a chance to get the ball, and got nowhere near it. You could understand the reaction from the keeper because he had the ball in his hands and got hit. It was just a moment of madness from the pair." Krul is banned from tomorrow's visit to Westfield of Aberdeen and his absence will mean a full debut for former Aston Villa keeper Robert Olejnik, who came on as a substitute after Krul's red card. However, the Bairns at least received a boost last night when Newcastle confirmed that Krul can spend the rest of the season on loan at the club. Delighted manager Hughes said: "It's great news because Tim has been excellent for us. I think the boy would agree he is learning a lot here. This has dragged on a bit but we are pleased to have Tim here until the end of the season." Edited January 4, 2008 by ohhh_yeah
