Newcastle United vs. Manchester City

Just got back in from in. Two completely different halves.

First half

Looked good. We were all over them at a point and prob had more shots on target than the last few games together. Duff looked lively on the left and Milner finally gave us some balance and width on the right. I was dubious about starting with Feye and Butt in the centre at home (too defensive) but Feye had a pretty good game. The down side was martins, just didnt takle his chances and should have done much better on a few occassions.

Second Half.

All we really needed was swpping Martins for Owen and thats just what he done. This was proved in minites as Owen had our best shot of the game. He looked much more aware and getting in great positions despite seeming to lack some of his pace. However, it was down hill from here. Milner wenmt completely off the boil, Zog ran out of steam and Butt/Feye disappeared. They started running rings around us. We just totally lost the plot. Absolute shite. Their second goal was a disgrace with no one picking up their sub (fernandes?) and he ran unchecked about 20 yards, took the ball and scored. It was like slow motion. Ive never seen the place empty that early as quick in a long time. Buy 90mins Id say it was half empty. When they said 4mins added time you could hear the groan from the fans "do we have to put up with another four mins?".

Bollocks.

Stick to draping a jumper around your shoulders and watching the cricket with your chums, you're clueless

:good:

That's shit.

Even for you that's pretty poor.

I was hoping he'd start turning it round but there just are no signs of it, especially after the "promising" display against Chelsea. The players are a joke too though. They know they are all in the clear as far as being sacked goes and I find it hard to believe that there aren't a fair few of them giving less than 100%.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's sacked now but I also think it won't do much good. Who's available?

Oh yeah.....

Allardyce has until the end of the transfer window before I'll cast my vote.

Not really taking it out on you - you just happen to be one of the few defenders.

Do you honestly think that if we sign say an "Okotcha" type player(s) that it will make that much difference that will warrant another 17 games of the same basic flaws?

I wouldn't trust him with a penny.

I hope we'll sign a couple of players. Think of it this way. Would Man City really be where they are without Elano and Petrov? I've got enough patience to wait and see, and while I respect your right to be pissed off, I don't think sacking Sam Allardyce now will solve anything.

i was willing to give him till end of season, but now NO DAMN WAY, get him out now

We can slaughter Allardyce's tactics (and God knows they've deserved it some time this season) but they players need to take a huge amount of stick. Why can they get up for games at Chelsea and against Arsenal yet capitulate against one of the sides with a poorer away record than ourselves? It's too easy to blame Allardyce.

Easily the better side up and till their second goal.

Missed opportunities cost us, and probably cost Sam his job.

I'd agree but both goals were down to basic football moves - something we are incapable of doing.

The Duff decision didn't help but it shouldn't be seen as an excuse either.

That was another odd one. I said to my mate when I seen the sub being made, that I didnt mind which went off, Milner or Zog as both were poor, in particular Milner who had a mare in the second half. Could have put zog or Duff on the right easy enough for Enrique to sit at LB. Then he took Duff off. We just laughed.

Not match fit yet?

Thought he was cracking in the first half.

I meant the offside/possible red card :good:

Though I also think he should have took Butt off. I also thought Milner had an off night.

just saw the game.

Thought we were the better side in the first half and if Martins wasn't so low in confidence we may have been ahead. Things really havn't gone our fucking way recently (apart from Smith and Barton not being involved today) as they should have had ten men one minute before they scored =/ Things like this many people don't take into consideration, like the fucking abomination of a decision that cost us a more than deserved point at stamford bridge.

In the second half after Owen's chance in the first minute we looked poor. Thought all our attacking players went missing and that surge Cacapa made right up to the other end of the pitch told it's own story. I'd like to think that it's just because of our confidence that we are performing so badly but I think Sam's a dead man walking and he only has himself to blame after that shite against Derby x2, Reading, Wigan, Pompey and Liverpool.

I think the players have let him down and I'd give him until the end of the season but I'm not so sure this will happen =/.

anyone honestly expecting anything from tonight should check themselves into a facility

Fuck off Dave, if that's what you honestly think then like Allardyce you haven't got a clue.

90 minutes of utter toothless football.

Can't understand how he spouts that much shite about keeping Allardyce and giving him a chance etc then makes posts like that. Probably practicing his Manc accent as we speak as he'll probably be supporting them for the remainder of the season.

Fucking bellend

Grow up Wacky man you're acting like a child. :good:

Sammy, did you honestly believe we'd win tonight?

If you did then you're more lacking a clue than me. For fucks sake, anyone and everyone can see the shit we're in, but every game you lot expect great football, when we haven't managed that[/i] in weeks!

I'm not being a "bellend" as wacky so eloquently puts it. I'm being realistic. Man City are better than we are right now so all I was hoping for was a decent performance. Which we got by all accounts.

So all this sniping at me is blatantly just projecting your frustration. Fine. But fuck off with all this shite about me knowing nothing or lacking a clue or anything else.

Dave, I didn't expect us to win it but I also was hopeful we could at least muster enough effort for a draw but mate although jawd is right our first half was reasonable, we never looked like seriously testing their keeper, not a once.

And you don't win jack if you're not taking your opportunities.

I'm sniping at you because I know you're supporting the wrong manager and you're doing it without actually watching the football the team is playing. And Dave that's just wrong and makes you look like what Wacky wants to call you.

You know in 35 years of supporting the toon I'd give my left nut to be able to go to SJP and the away matches each week but I can't because I live on the otherside of this fucking planet. So what do I do I subscribe to pay TV in the hope that my team is one of the games they show, $1500 Aust a year (about 700 quid of current exchange) and up until this season if I was lucky I got to see 20-30% of the league matches. This year they have shown all but one and to be honest if this is the level of football the club wants to be at, then Mort and Ashley seriously need to consider investing in a rugby team because it's not up to scratch.

Especially when he sets his team as he does, fails to motivate his players and makes such match winning substitutions as taking Faye off and leaving an utterly exhausted Butt and Milner on.

They are his players, it is his job to make it work - he can't.

by all accounts we did muster enough for a draw, but were unlucky with regards to referee decisions. I'm not "supporting the manager" blindly. I'm trying to swim against a tide of reactionary rubbish, people desperate for change irregardless of the inevitable instability and the extension of this situation where we waste season after season "rebuilding".

Sam Allardyce may yet prove to be the right man, but if he's not at least give him a fucking season. Souness, Gullit, Dalglish, Roeder all failed to impress, but all were given time. Now we have a manager who understands the modern game (off the pitch) and so to sack him would be unreasonable and quite short-sighted.

I understand the frustrations, but seriously, do you think;

a. anyone would want this poisoned chalice?

b. anyone could do a better job straight away?

c. you could tolerate six months of mediochrity

face it, we're not sacking him for a while yet.

managed that without calling anyone a name :good:

Alright 1st half but no cunt could hit a barn door or pick out an open man, Martins is shot to shit and its got nothing to do with ability in my mind. 2nd half shite, but as usual, the 'magic formula' of Emre, Enrique and the wingers in the right place did the sum all of jack shit again, only Enrique on looked like an improvement, Zog didn't tire he just didn't like he knew what he was supposed to be doing.

No bastard showed any urgency except Butt, Enrique, Owen and Duff, but Owen thought he was a midfielder and Duff as usual has no end product. I am constantly amazed at a team with Butt in doesn't know how to track back as a team with urgency, because believe it or not, at times they were all up front, and even Allardyce was shouting for them to get back, but they were in zombie mode.

We have no first team that picks itself and it shows, even Milner is still what I would call a 2nd string player, potential my arse, Jenas mkII. No player that got the ball knew instintively what the players around him would do, where the runs or the one-two's would come from, therefore requiring time to whir the cogs in their brains and allowing city to organise. At one point 4 men covered the box because Cacapa had gone for a jaunt down the line.

Severe problems as usual, not likely to be fixed by sacking BSA and once again finding out no manager wants this job.
