Fact is that the old board attempted to bring quality players to the club, the new one has to prove they have the same ambition to do this. You won't match the top teams unless you have players that they themselves want.

And you can try all you like however if the current manager doesnt want said quality players or fails to impress these players enough then theres nowt the board can do. Unless you advocate the Shepherd method of spend ridiculous amounts more than the players worth just to ensure you get a big name? Now who did he do that with again? some bloke called Luque wasnt it? whatever happened to that fella?

I have said on numerous occasions, that the biggest mistake of the summer was letting Solano go, on top of Dire and not replacing at least one of them, and asked a question, which is this :

Who at the club decided not to replace them. Was it Sam, thinking Smith is a midfield player and was happy with his signings ? Or was it someone at the club telling him that he had to make do with what he had.

I don't know the answer. But whoever is responsible, wants shooting, and whoever is responsible, I would seriously question.

As Allardyce was complaining about backing etc last august/September time, it tells you something, but time will tell and we may find out soon what the answer to this was.

The fact that some of the players we bought under the old board, flopped, is neither here nor there in terms of the boards involvement, they backed their appointed managers judgement and from that point it is the managers responsibility.

Would YOU prefer the board to say to the manager that there is no more money ie behave like a smaller club to what we are, or just as bad to say to him, I'm not buying you this player because I don't rate him ?

The 2 things you need to be successful is an ambitious board who are prepared to back their managers as much as possible to compete for the quality players, and a manager who knows what he is doing. The underlying point is that, the old board showed ambition. If this current board don't have ambition or they are intending to run a tight ship financially without looking for the quality players, then we have absolutely no chance of matching the top clubs again at all.

I'm sure that somebody somewhere will build a case for someone like Modric [whoever the fuck he is] to be a step forward for the football club and try to tell us all that shopping in this market is superior to the old board attempting to genuinely compete with the other top clubs for the top quality footballers, like the old board did

Unless of course you're a complete thick cunt who thinks that buying people a pint in a pub is preferable marketing strategy

You're building a case against buying a player who, by your own admission, you have no clue about though aren't you?

I think I have asked you "as only 4 clubs have qualified for europe more than us in the last decade, would you not agree that this means we got more things right than most " Which is all I have ever said about the old board, along with the obvious fact that improving them with better would be difficult and far from automatic.

"Love will tear us apart again" click jump "Love will tear us apart again" click jump "Love will tear us apart again" click jump "Love will tear us apart again" click jump. Sorry I was just saying how another broken record sounds.

No reply, again ?

You're completely clueless aren't you.

Typical KBJ. There's only one person here who was attracted back to the club by the Halls and Shepherd, and it wasn't me because I was already there.

No I agree with you Leazes I think it is much better to spunk away what money we have for a manager we might not employ after the next few weeks.

Well, surely if they are "planning" to get rid of Allardyce, then they would do it before the deadline and have a new bloke in by then ?

Are you one of those who said "planning" guaranteed success, and if signings were "timed" at the beginning of the summer, then that led to guaranteed success too ?

Unless of course, the alternative to all of this is pleasing to you. Which is to continue to sit in the bottom half of the table, just so long as the business is in good order and we don't spunk money on "trophy" players who go to manu, Liverpool etc instead ?

Have you saw the thread where some people are saying that something is fundamentally wrong with the club ? As people like you thought it was Shepherd who do you think it is now ?

Can't wait until we match those Champions League qualifications, now that the cancer has gone and it should be so easy .....

As KCG has replied for Alex instead of himself, with a totally childish post too, I'm taking it he missed this which is for him, so -

bump

I'm sure that as he thinks he's right, a fairly basic reply will be easy enough for him to try and prove me wrong

This board goes with the club tbh! inexperienced and learning the ropes of running a big club like Newcastle, the fantastic images of the owner amongst the supporters etc, give me a fucking break! the going around the bigg market and buying drinks etc,Mort sitting next to SA and heres me thinking, does he really have a clue like others who have been in the game for a long time? I doubt it,yes they've cleared a bit debt and think they are onto a good one with us  the big picture is....we've gone from bad to worse!.

I obviously hope they have ambition and learn quickly.

If they don't have ambition though, then ultimately sitting with the crowd and buying people pints is meaningless. It may be just a basic PR gimmick anyway and they may already be running the club in the manner they intend to run it.

We will see. Time will tell. Not everybody is taken in by PR gimmicks, especially when in football the best PR of all is a winning team on the pitch.

I have said in another thread, they need to sit down with Allardyce and question where he thinks he is going wrong, and what his solution is. If he is right [meaning that Ashley and Mort must know something about football themselves] then they must back him, now, and if he gets it wrong they have to sack him. I don't agree that you can put the first team on the back burner and build up the youth system. Mort has been making noises about this, but all it is, is a speculative process which has a very small chance of bringing success on the cheap, and it is also ignoring the fairly basic principle that the sooner we are in europe the better, and the sooner we are back up with the top teams the better quality young player will see us as his future.

I would like KGC to reply to this, if he can engage his brain instead of making childish posts that make him look like he knows nothing at all other than saying he thinks Shepherd was a useless bastard because he was fat and ate all the pies.

1 Easier said than done and might actually be waiting until they can get someone right in rather than jumping on the closest idiot to us a la SHepherd.

2 I never said planning guaranteed success I just said Shepherd was a cunt. I was right buy the way don't argue or you will look even more stupid.

3 I am not happy which is why I want SA gone but we are looking great financially and not near financial ruin as w were under Shepherd again dont argue.

4 I have not seen that thread and the only thing wrong with the club now is that we are playing shit football and not getting results.

5 Those champions league achievements happened a long time ago and the last years after the scandalous treatment of SBR were a fucking joke.

I doubt very much that you could make me look stupid, or any other KBJ for that matter.

I am pleased you admit that this "planning" is easier said than done. You should have said the same under the last board when people were saying it was so easy.

Abramovic may well also be a cunt, but who cares, it doesn't infringe on him being the owner of Chelsea. McKeag, Westwood etc were cunts too, or don't you think so, but they didn't attract you to the club did they ?

Nobody is happy just now. I will remind you that the Halls and Shepherd saved the club from actually folding when they themselves took it over, and left it light years better off. You, being a KBJ at best, won't accept that, even when told it.

Are you now changing history and saying we shouldn't have sacked Bobby Robson, despite the vast majority of people - including the fans who shamefully booed him for finishing 5th [proof of my statement here] - wanting him replaced. But as you have already attempted to change history, I can't say I'm surprised.

The shit football is a direct result of the manager bringing in an entire new defence by the way, which a lot of people said we needed to do at this time last year, and most people seemed happy with him when he did it. You should have listened to me instead, because I said we needed better quality forward players, that is even more obvious now. The test for this board is will they show the ambition and find the way needed to bring in these players, and like it or not, if this new board is going to be "better", then they have to match the league positions gained under the old one, and sustain it longer. This is not a difficult concept.

Yes, I know you can accept plain facts more than some people and not distort them in the same way.

It's those who can't accept the basic straightforward statement that for someone to be better, then they must show they are better. You can't argue with results, and league positions.

It appears that some people have already decided the new owners are better than the old ones, whether they do better or not.

Tbf, from where I'm standing, you've decided they're worse than the previous lot. Without actually saying as much the implication seems clear.

no, that is wrong. I was bothered by Allardyce's comments last August about wanting more support, and still am, so I would like them to do something to put those thoughts to bed. But I can't judge them until this is clear, one way or another.

The proof will be in how well they do, its really that easy.

Ok, sound. Can't argue with that. I'm quite optimistic we'll do well under Ashley though, assuming he is here for the long haul. I don't know why though, I just have a good feeling about the new board.
