Ketsbaia 0
Personally, i'll be very pissed off. I can't see him becoming the manager ending any other way but badly so I get the feeling i'll be saying 'I told you so' quite a bit.
TheMoog 0
I'm probably one of the few who would go for such an appointment, I wonder if Shearer would keep to the basics though.
Scottish Mag 3
I think it would be a disaster but like any manager I would give him my support. I do have a feeling though he would be an old school manager a la Souness, Dalglish etc which would not be good
Kid Dynamite 6961
I think it would be career suicide on his part, but i bet he could put our best XI out consistently and would even go so far as to say he would do a better job than BS here. Happy Face 29
I'd be happier than the day we got 'proven' Allardyce or Souness.
@yourservice 67
Would he want to tarnish his cult hero status?Thats what he'll be thinking.

JawD 99
I'd be willing to give him a shot. Id be interested to see how he handled it and what style he would adopt. I'd get behind him of course. All this said, Im not convinced its the right move.
GeordieMessiah 2
It would raise an eyebrow or two in my house, tbh. I suspect this reaction would soon after by followed by placing my head in my hands and allowing water to drip from my eyes.

Bombadil 0
Maybe it's just blind, deluded optimism or me still feeling the effects of three days' hard drinking, but I think he could be another Keegan for us. From a realistic perspective, it's all going to end in tears though.

Holden McGroin 6451
Would it be any more of a risk than the last 3 managers? I think it would be worth a shot. At least he'll have the crowd behind him and I think he will get the best out of players in a straightforward formation. Simple, isn't it??!?! As a pundit, he may not be the best but he has a good understanding of tactics/team selection etc, unlike Allardyce, who can't get the common sense part right. He knows the fans and understands the demands of the job.
LeazesMag 0
I'm gonna sit on the fence, because I've no reason to do anything else. I don't know, it seems he [shearer] was inspirational in assisting Roeder, but like Roeder himself, it didn't last. He would need a coach who knows the game ie step forward Terry Venables, the man who Shearer has said, like many others who played for Venables, they rate and respect him more than almost anybody. Aside of this, which is only speculation anyway, I'll be very sad if we go through all this circus of changing manager again, but I would support it if Allardyce doesn't get his act together quickly and admit to himself what he is doing wrong and/or make the step up to a bigger club with bigger expectations which I thought that he would be big enough to make. Jimbo 172
Not sure how much of that success was down to Tommy Craig rather than Shearer, impossible to tell in my view, as for Verry Terribles, ouch ! Yes I can see the logic in having a more experienced man in there with him, but Terribles ?? Shearer might go on to be a great manager, but I'm not sure I want to take that risk. Asprilla 96
I have a feeling it would work. It might or it might not, is that a risk we can afford to take right now ? Any new manager has to deal with the unique and frenzied atmosphere of the city as well as understanding the expectations. Shearer at least will have that experience. He'd also be able to command respect of the players. I think he's a pretty smart guy too, I can't see him making too many basic tactical mistakes, but I also don't believe he'd try and over complicate things. Lastly until he's given a go, any manager will be living in his shadow the moment results go pear shape.
