Jimbo 175
Manager Sanchez sacked by Fulham Fulham have sacked manager Lawrie Sanchez with immediate effect. The club are languishing in the relegation zone of the Premier League, winning only four matches out of 24 games under Sanchez and lost 12. "Losing Premiership status is a proposition that simply can not be contemplated," said a club statement. The 48-year-old's departure comes just a day after former Fulham midfielder John Collins's sudden resignation as Hibernian manager. The ex-Scotland midfielder's exit sparked a flurry of rumours that he may return to Craven Cottage. Fulham have announced assistant manager Ray Lewington and Billy McKinlay will be in charge of the team for Saturday's home game against Wigan. Sanchez becomes the seventh managerial casualty of the Premier League season. The former Northern Ireland boss had been under pressure having only won 13 points from 17 games. The former Wimbledon midfielder had been given the job full-time in May having replaced Chris Coleman on a part-time basis last season.

Amazing that Southgate was given sod all money to spend and got them playing half decent football, Sanchez has had a fortune to spend and has turned them into an aggressive dull team incapable of scoring goals. tinofbeans 91
good point Jimbo, however with allardyce i have a feeling that people know he prefers "efficient" or "direct" football. sanchez shouldn't have got rid of diop, or that other thug that played through the middle. they also have too many championship players ( healy and kamara). Guest stevieintoon
There was a time in the not to distant past that a defeat against Newcastle United, was accepted like it is against Man Utd or Chelsea. Now it appears you lose to us and you get sacked, Jol first now Sanchez, who's next? Edited December 21, 2007 by stevieintoon

sammynb 3641
good point Jimbo, however with allardyce i have a feeling that people know he prefers "efficient" or "direct" football. You think? Last Saturday proved one thing, our manager is as shite as their's was and we've still got ours. I'd hope that Mort would have the replacement lined up, to help him carry his things out to the cab (as he'd be leaving his company car), before we moved Allardyce on but the penny's going to drop eventually. Rob W 0
It's funny - Fulham (like W Ham and us) expect a certain STYLE in their team - and they felt Sanchez was just a long ball merchant - understand they didn't like him AT ALL Last time I was there some gadge behind me was talking about the days of Johnnie Haynes like it was yesterday ............ worth the admission money by itself TBH
