Jimbo 175
Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce has given up hope of landing Manchester United ace Wes Brown on loan next month. The Magpies tactician had targeted the England international after the long-serving Red Devils ace rejected the chance to sign a new contract. However, Allardyce believes with worries over Gary Neville's long-term fitness, Ferguson will not be prepared to let Brown depart in the New Year. The former Bolton manager is desperate to plug The Magpies' leaky defence, although they did keep a clean sheet in their last-gasp 1-0 win over Fulham. "Wes Brown is not going to be available in January," he told The People. "He may leave at the end of the season. "The speculation comes round because he supposedly turned a contract down, but I can't see Sir Alex letting him leave with Gary Neville being injured." newcastlebroon 0
Could be a canny signing for us to be honest. Not the worst centre back in the world, although saying that it's not like he's played with shite over the years is it.

Kid Dynamite 7327
Just like Gudjonsson, another 'Big Team' reject who would love to join Duff, Butt, Smith for the high paid easy life at st james. Hed soon be shown up as being no better than what we have, Fergie doesnt sell good players very often.

He's better than anything we've got at the back at the moment and if we can get him on a free in the Summer it'll be an excellent deal.

Aside from the fact I think Smith would never get into the team ahead of Rooney and Tevez up front, and Saha, and Butt was understudy to Keane for years [none of which is a disgrace by any stretch of the imagination] I just don't think Brown has the same case, especially with Gary Neville possibly not returning from his injury, and also that we don't need a right back so much. In fact Allardyces' obsession with defenders is pissing me off.

As for Brown, he's been solid for Man Utd all season but knows he will lose his place to Gary Neville when he's back from injury which is why it seems he wants to move on, I'd take him over any defender at the club and I think he'd make a good partner in the centre of defence for Faye, it also gives us another solid player who can cover right back which means we can move Carr on. Wes Brown on a free in the Summer really is a no brainer.
Kid Dynamite 7327
About as much as a no brainer as Bowyer on a free tbh! £90k per week and a £3mil signing on fee isnt really free!
