JawD 99
Avon Fire Right or wrong? Here is their description: ‘Have-a-go’ days – come along to Avon Fire & Rescue Service Headquarters, Temple Back, Bristol and find out more about the selection process from application through to interview, have a go at some of the tests and pick up an application. * Sat 19 January - 10am to 4pm - women only * Sun 20 January - 10am to 4pm - Black and Minority Ethnic communities only * Wed 23 January - 6pm to 9pm - women and Black and Minority Ethnic communities only * Fri 25 January - 10am to 4pm - open to all * Sat 26 January - 10am to 4pm - women and Black and Minority Ethnic communities only As an employer, we are equal opportunities. But surely there should be no difference? Is things like this not just pointing out the differences? Why does it even matter what colour the skin is and surely it should be down to the individual? I really cannot see the benefit of inviting this way? Someone else made the usual point, if the Friday had said "White Males Only" there would have been uproar. In my eyes, like most "PC" stuff. It has the opposite effect to the intention.

RlCO 0
No surprise, this is the same brigade if I remember that disciplined it's firepersons for breaking up illegal bum fun in the bushes, on the grounds they had no business being there in the fire truck. shakermaker 0
isn't it really down to who they employ rather than the days they were given a show around ?

Every session apart from the one on Fri 25th Jan is like the one's when you visited the fire station when you were a kid with the station master going, "Now this is the shiny red fire engine that goes nee-nar, nee-nar, nee-nar!"
