After 4 years at uni and 2 degrees later i am starting as a school teacher at my new(old prac school really) school next year and i have the year 4/5 class. I was wondering if anyone had any awesome themed ideas for the wee tackers! I was thinking of doing the Titanic and then incorporate disasters into it later on. But i am sure you smart english folk have some cracking ideas, so let me here them. I was going to paint a gigantic mural of a boat on the back of the wall. So any ideas on your theme or any additions to mine are fine and dandy. Year 4/5 is basically ages 8-10ish. Didnt take long I would go for the "what Britain used to do with criminals in the 1800s" it will work on two counts, 1 its historical and two they can research their family tree as well I was actually thinking of doing convicts and the such, so your idea pud isnt as bad and stupidly hilarious as it sounds isn't it guided by the curriculum and methods (quest etc). bit pointless putting up pyramids and a sphinx if you're studying the tudors. Concepts and ideas they need to learn are guided by the Curriculum (so if they are at the level where they need to start learning about fractions then i would introduce this... etc) however i can (if i want to be cool) choose a theme to run all the ideas around. Also just a heads up.... i am coming over to England either later on next year and guess what... I am going to be teaching your kids. I'd suggest he goes with the subject of humnimals (or half creatures), that strange species of humans animal crossbreeds that somehow have succeeded in surviving. The centaur, the minotaur, the sphinx, the satyr and the little known Peterpig or peasepud found in the north-east of Ingerlund (and in certain parts of Ireland tbs tbs). A canny bit of convict labour ended up in Perth etc. due to a population shortage though. Yes, I paid attention to the guide when I went to the old Fremantle Prison South Australia on the other hand was settled almost exclusively by non-convicts.
