The Swedish-based player spent the past 10 days with compatriots Benni McCarthy and Aaron Mokoena and had the opportunity to train with Mark Hughes’ Rovers squad and has now been asked to travel to Tyneside for seven days. The 22-year-old is expected to be one of the stars at the 2010 FIFA World Cup after enjoying spells at many European clubs, most notably Arsenal. “Newcastle has sent an invitation to Lance and he will be on trial there all this week,” Djurgardens’ sports director Bosse Andersson told SPORT-Expressen. “He was at Blackburn last week and they were happy with what they saw and now he will spend a week in Newcastle, that is our agreement. “We have not received any offers yet though, these are only trial invitations,” added Andersson.
