More TV changes - Boro and Man Utd games to be televised

NEWCASTLE United's home fixtures against Middlesbrough and Man Utd have been moved for live television coverage.

 

The Tyne-Tees clash with Boro, originally scheduled for Saturday February 2 (kick off 3pm), will now be shown live on Sky Sports on Sunday February 3 (kick off 1.30pm).

 

While the visit of Man Utd, originally scheduled for Saturday February 23 (kick off 3pm), will be shown on the same day but with a kick off time of 5.15pm to allow for Setanta Sports coverage.

 

February 2008 - TV Fixture Changes

 

Newcastle United v Middlesbrough

Original date - Saturday, February 2, kick off 3pm

New date - Sunday, February 3, kick off 1.15pm - live on Sky Sports

 

Newcastle United v Manchester United

Original date - Saturday, February 23, kick off 3pm

New date - Saturday, February 23, kick off 5.15pm - live on Setanta

 

8 out of 14 of our home matches have now been moved for TV

Add to that, the fact that the Everton and West Ham games were both moved to the Sunday. That means we will only have played three Saturday 3pm kick offs in 14 matches.

I can see where schedule changes can cause angst among the folks at home, but for me being retired and living in a place 8 hours removed it doesn't make a lot of difference to me as the 3 o'clock kick-offs on Saturdays is 7 o'clock in the morning here. It's those early kick-offs that bug me, getting up at 4 in the morning is not something that an owld gadgee appreciates.

Inccidently, what with subscribing to Setanta USA which became available on my dishnetwork this season, and the football shown on the Fox Soccer Channel I have seen ALL our league matches so far this season, mostly live, some 2 hour tape delay, and the odd one 5 hour delay. Only match I haven't seen was the loss to Arse n'all in the Cup game as it wasn't shown over here.

I don't mind 5.15 on a Saturday. Pain in the arse for people travelling a long way though. How are we on TV so much anyway? We're rarely worth watching.

Aye I think I would be just as well becoming one. Late Saturdays and early Sundays shaft me as I struggle to get trains that will get me to Newcastle/Home and then Monday nights are hopeless as I need to take time off work. I really am starting to wonder if its worth the hassle.

From what I understand from a mate in Gosforth, I see more Newcastle matches on the telly over here than he does. He used to be a season ticket holder but now he feels he is too old and decrepit to be among the mob-crush and doesn't see home games unless he can get a stream on his computer.
