McKay hits out at police

Football agent Willie McKay has compared his treatment by police following an inquiry into alleged corruption to that of a 'terrorist operation'.

McKay was one of a group of five men arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and false accounting on Wednesday.

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp, the club's chief executive Peter Storrie and former chairman Milan Mandaric were among those arrested.

Charlton midfielder Amdy Faye, currently on loan to Rangers, was the other man arrested.

And McKay, who says his house in South Yorkshire was raided by 28 officers at 6am on Wednesday as part of the investigation , has followed Redknapp in criticising the police.

"I don't blame the individual policemen who eventually treated us very well," McKay told Sky Sports News.

"But how on earth can an enquiry for allegedly giving a player money lead to 28 police officers storming my house with my family inside? It's incredible.

"Twice my lawyer has contacted the police saying we are quite happy to meet, but obviously they have seen fit to do this. It was like a terrorist operation.

"They said it was about giving Amdy Faye money. Now does that warrant 28 police officers storming your house? I'm surprised. It has upset me and upset my family."

McKay also confirmed reports that he had been informed by a chairman of a football club that he was going to be investigated by police.

"It's a chairman of a football club in the North West," added McKay when asked about the reports.

"I won't name him, but about three years ago he told me, 'It is your head they want'. I've been through everything. Where is it all coming to?"

McKay, though, remains certain he will be cleared of the accusations that he is facing.

"I'm not confident. I know I will be (cleared)," McKay concluded.

"I'm happy to meet right whoever right now and get everything right now to get everything sorted out.

"It has been on too long and the smear campaign is difficult to take."

Feel sorry for his family if thats true.

The man is cancer, get rid of him.

Meh they live off the money he leeches, not too much sympathy for them (although in general the police operation seemed OTT for what it was).

Actually I'd say that was fairly typical OF the police, do nothing when they should do something, then completely over react to something that doesn't really need heavy handed policing (but that may get headlines).

Which just shows the general level of incompetence and twisted values in the police system.
