Barney 0
Nov 28 2007 by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle Geremi NEWCASTLE UNITED captain Geremi has told his wounded team-mates to face up to the club’s slump in form like men after what he described as a “disgraceful” display against Liverpool. The Cameroon international said the squad is aiming to pick up the pieces and get back to work by taking three points in their next game at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday. Geremi immediately put his hands up to admit the inept performance against the Merseysiders was unacceptable and he understood the fans’ frustrations. In an honest assessment of the current situation in the St James’s Park locker room, Geremi said: “We were hurt after the Liverpool game, it was a big blow because of the way we played. “We looked unrecognisable against Liverpool – it was a big disgrace. “Now we must concentrate and everybody is confident we can turn it around at Blackburn. “The aim is to wipe out the negatives from the Liverpool game.” Yet captain Geremi – who switched on the Christmas lights in Blyth town centre last night – was adamant United can still turn things around and illuminate what has been a dull period for the Toon. The Indomitable Lions ace is ready to roll up his sleeves in Lancashire and rally his side before they become embroiled in the dogfight that is going on beneath them in the table. He added: “We have battlers at the club and we can still get things right. “I think we have a good squad. It’s true we had a bad game against Liverpool, but everybody has to face up to it like a man. It is very important that we keep our fans happy by winning games.” And although you can still taste the disappointment in the Tyneside air at the moment, three points at Ewood Park are a must with Newcastle struggling to hold on to the coat-tails of the Euro chasers. But after the Liverpool game Geremi wants to repay the fans this weekend. He added: “We know that we didn’t play well. But one thing in football that is good is that you know another game is usually not too far away. “You always want to respond to a bad game with only one thing – a win.” Geremi got the chance to chat with Toon fans in Blyth last night, and although he was under no illusions of the task in hand, he says he enjoys meeting the supporters. He added: “It was a real pleasure to go to meet the people of Blyth and it was a great atmosphere.”

Happy Face 29
What a load of shite. He goes on like it was a one game blip! Doesn't identify WHAT the problem was at all, and has no suggestion as to how things will get better. If they realise it's unacceptable now, why didn't they realise it at half time? ads 0
He's been one of our biggest underperformers this season without a doubt, I thought he'd have been a brilliant signing but he's been disappointing to say the least, and yes, he was one of the worst players out there against Liverpool last week. Roll on Saturday at Ewood.
