Avoid the Dell Latitutude C-series ones...

 

They have a design fault in that the case screw mounts shear off after reasonable use near the mouse pad whihc affects its calibration. The end-result being that the mouse starts to wander. We had loads of these machines at work and every single one of them ended up doing that.

Used them back in 2001 and then again in late 2005. Their stuff is reconditioned and do show some wear. The first laptop lasted 3 years before the battery died, could have got a new one but it was pretty much out of date by then. The second one is still going. You will get a couple of years use out of them before they are really out of date.

 

I suppose you get what you pay for. Even if it's just for a young un they quickly fill the hard drive up with music and video, then will start bending your ear for another one with more space.
