post the manager you want Ashley to approach

The problem is the ones that might come simply would be no better (and might be worse - especially given we've still got what amounts to a complete team and backroom staff rebuild).

And those that might be better simply wouldn't touch us with a shitty bargepole.

Mourinho is totaly out of our league, IE Barca,Milan etc with CL football

I want BS to succeed but the drivel his team have served up so far is way below what is expected and if it carrys on through December then he should get the boot, I understand he has asked for time but they need to show they are moving forward, we are worse than under Roeder at the moment.

Guus Hiddink would be my first choice but I dont think we would have a great chance there either.

If Allardyce gets the sack the only person I can see stepping in that the fans would love is Shearer but if we are as shit under him as we have been for the last few years what then?

I think Shearer would need practice first like.

A season with a Championship/League One club perhaps.

Or he would deffo need some awesome coaches and An awesome assistant.

If Mort/Ashley are looking for a new manager in the summer these 4 should be topping the list IMO:

Manuel Pellegrini (Villarreal CF)

Guus Hiddink

José Mourinho

Louis Van Gaal

Not Moyes, Coppell, McLeish etc. :jesus wept:

None of them would come though.

Thats a few folk between here and N-O now suggested Big Eck. Don't get me wrong I am delighted with the job he has done with Scotland (But to be fair the team pretty much picks itself these days) but to think about appointing him would just be another side step as would the likes of Moyes, Coppell etc. The majority of their success has been built on stability and having time to build a team something our supporters are not prepared to give.

I think we can give support and stablility to the right manager, yes time and patience is needed to develop success, but thats fine if you've got the right man in charge, Allardyce is going from one mistake to the next and blaming everyone but himself, and is not filling anyone with confidence, if results were going against us but there was a hint of progession, learning and development than I'm sure we'd all be behind him, but there isn't.

Bolton made the brave decision that they had made a mistake, and sacked Sammy Lee, and I believe we need to admit we have done the same.

I can't see how blaming the fans has anything to do with this, the only factor in our position is that loon we've appointed as manager, we are going backwards fast, everyone can recognise the problems, there is a collective groan that goes around as soon as the team is announced on match days, the problems are that basic, team selection, formation, tactics, substitutions, its FAR more than just a bad run of results, its about getting it wrong from the very begining and showing no sign of learning from these mistakes.

Wringing our hands about nasty people boo'ing in the stands is the least of our problems.

as much as I hate the pig, Van Gaal I fancy could do a good job for us if he's up for the challenge. I still want Sam to be given at least 2 seasons though to get all his own personnel in and play how he wants to. If he keeps up these bizarre team selections all through this season though I don't think he'll last the distance =/

Are we as fickle with management appointments as some people make out ?

I can only think of Dalglish as being a manager that wasn't given enough time.

Keegan - Walked out

Dalglish - Sacked arguably too soon

Gullit - Walked out

Robson - kept on for too long

Souness - Sacked and should never have been given the job in the first place

Roeder - See above

I don't see that as a track record of getting shot of managers too soon, I see it as a track record of appointing the wrong man.

The counter argument would surely be any of them could have been the right man given enough time.

If Mourhino really is the 'special one' and likes a challenge, come here and win something, if he done that he would go down in PL history. I know people are saying we'd find it hard to attract a top manager but money speaks volumes and it's something Ashley's got, I don't care what anyone says, money is a massive lure.

Will he want to use an obscene amount of it knowing that if things don't go well and the fans are beginning to demand his head on a stick he'll have to pay up on a fat contract?

Somehow I doubt it, he's not Fat "How much do you want" Fred.

If Benitez left Liverpool, would he choose us or them?
