The irony is even for Australia it may not be a great thing (new guy is very, very reminiscent of Blair in 1997 and look how great he was :icon_lol: ), several domestic policies that may back fire long term, and although he withdrawing Australia's huge amount of troops from Iraq (all 500 of them), he's quite supportive of getting more deeply involved in Afghanistan (which has the potential to be a continuing blood bath for decades to come - especially if Pakistan goes back to a very pro-Taliban regime).

Fop do you just make this up as you go along?

It is pointless discussing anything with you, whether tongue in cheek or genuine debate, because you're expert on everything.

Am I wrong? :D

In your judgement of the tone of Sammy's original post? Completely and utterly. ;)

I think I'm a twat. <_< x ;)

I can't think of anything to say but to throw insults like a child. ;)

Actually let's go back to your original comment and tell a few home truths.

Because you know so fucking much!

although he withdrawing Australia's huge amount of troops from Iraq (all 500 of them), he's quite supportive of getting more deeply involved in Afghanistan (which has the potential to be a continuing blood bath for decades to come - especially if Pakistan goes back to a very pro-Taliban regime)

The real facts. (From abc online)

Australia, an original member of US President George W Bush's "coalition of the willing" committed 2,000 troops to the 2003 invasion, but has since reduced its deployment to around 950.

...

An additional 450 troops will be sent to southern Iraq to begin work in early May, training security forces and protecting Japanese soldiers involved in the reconstruction effort.

That makes about 1400 with my very limited mathematics.

On Afghanistan. (Again from abc online)

The Opposition's defence spokesman Joel Fitzgibbon says Labor is determined to ensure Australian soldiers fighting in Afghanistan are given the support they need.

Yesterday an SAS solider was shot dead during a clash with the Taliban in the south of Afghanistan.

Perth-based patrol commander, Sergeant Matthew Locke, was on his second tour in Oruzgan Province when he was killed.

Mr Fitzgibbon today met soldiers in Townsville who have served in Afghanistan.

He says his party would look at increasing troop numbers if the international community believed there was a case for strengthening troops generally.

"It is possible that we might find it necessary to reinforce our commitment to Afghanistan," he said.

"Currently we are overstretched, we have a big commitment in Iraq as well.

"The Labor Party believes it's necessary to bring those combat troops home to free up capacity to meet any contingencies such as an additional commitment in Afghanistan."

So they are looking to reinforce the 190 SAS troops by relieving them and replacing them, obviously that means they want to "get more deeply involved."

By the way Fop, your quick witted comment about only 500 troops, did you know that the Australian defence forces only has a population of 51000?

Originally, as other have stated, this thread was a sarcastic comment of the coalition of the willing and all associated with it but you've decided to turn it into a bitchfest, congratulations.

Maybe you should consider not everyone wants to hear your opinion or read threads on how great your life isn't!

As for the "I can't think of anything so I'll throw insults like a child" comment, why would I bother just calling you cunt, when I can show how little you know?

And very out of date too. <_< There are currently 550 Australian combat troops in Iraq. :icon_lol:

"Big commitment in Iraq". ;)

Actually you've got more than 300 in now, and as Rudd has repeatedly criticised the reduction of Australian troop numbers there in 2003 and consistently made noises about further increasing that (he's been on about at least 300+ anti-drugs officers going over which technically aren't combat troops, but regarding opium and Afghanistan the distinction is fairly moot). Afghanistan is likely to require troops for longer than Iraq as well.

By the way Fop, your quick witted comment about only 500 troops, did you know that the Australian defence forces only has a population of 51000?

Do you know how big the UK army is? And how many they have and indeed have had in Iraq (never mind Afghanistan)? No thought not. :icon_lol:

It was a bitchfest to start with, just one you didn't like being pointed out as false.

Maybe you should check your facts (they are WRONG) and get some perspective (it helps) before posting anything. :D

So maybe you should go back to the mindless insults, you can at least get them "right".

As of 2006 - 195,900 regular force.

Currently they have 5,250 active in Iraq and up to 7700 British troops have been committed to Afghanistan until 2009.

It appears I was wrong, there are only 1000 Australian forces personnel currently active in Iraq and they shouldn't be there anyway.

Anything else?

Actually Australia has 1 600 military personnel in Iraq. Of those 1 600 personnel, 550 of them are combat troops. Fop is just being a pedantic bastard ;) .

Kevin Rudd wants the 550 combat troops to return to Australia by the middle of next year, while keeping the some other personnel in Iraq. Mainly ancillary personnel to protect diplomats, and those involved in transport and surveillance in the country.

There are 1000 Australian military personnel in Afghanistan. Of those, 300 are SAS troops. Rudd wants to solidify this contingent as you correctly point out, because Afghanistan is the justified war sanctioned by the UN.

Nope at present (even including territorial) a lot less than that (a good 25% less). ;)

Currently they have 5,250 active in Iraq and up to 7700 British troops have been committed to Afghanistan until 2009.

Australia would need an army of about 5000 to "match" their peak deployment ratio. ;)

Yes you were. No surprise there.

Anything else?

Yup you still need some perspective if you think Howard is/was one of the worlds biggest problems. <_<

Please, oh please show me where I said that?

You still haven't provided a single actual fact, just some figures you profess to be correct. Including a statement that the British forces have dropped by 25% in twelve months!

Are you leaze in disguise?

Lastly did you know Ken is English and from what I can gather is a lot closer to Iraq than you ever will be?

If Australia didn't exist the only people who would notice, would be fans of Neighbours, not that I'm saying you're an insignificant country of course.

You've implied it (although I agree implication might be a bit beyond you).

Check it out, I dunno what figures you were looking at only way it come close is if you add the Navy to it as well.

Are you leaze in disguise?

Are you? You seem to try (and fail) with the same tactics. ;)

Lastly did you know Ken is English and from what I can gather is a lot closer to Iraq than you ever will be?
Do I care? Even with my only very, very vaguely passing interests in Australia I seem to know more about it than you. :D

Now get some perspective.

Of course you care because if you didn't you wouldn't keep rolling your eyes and arguing facts with no support.

As for getting some perspective, I here reading your every word fop.

Stevie you dirty makem felcher, you're are right besides Neighbours fans no-one would notice but fop seems to care.

'Axis of Evil' was tongue-in-cheek though.

There was no <_< or ;) clearly breaking MANDATORY rules on this board (or so I have been told) - so stop with the revisionist history. ;)

He just needs to get some perspective is all.

Again though you're talking out of your arse about numbers - not that that has anything to do with the inital point, of course - which you've conceded long ago now.

As for getting some perspective, I here reading your every word fop.

And yet you understand so very little, some perspective might help that. ;)

About Australia? As I said given how little I actually care it's utterly amazing how little you seem to know, given that I have almost no interest at all. <_<

It was though, and it was obvious. You need to get some perspective. Honestly. You started an argument over something that was never implied. In my opinion of course.

I explained to you what a makem is in the bin dipper get's broken into thread.

Fop one last time just for you.

Troop numbers in Iraq at the moment

Number of people in the British Armed forces

War in Afghanistan including troop numbers

I hope all of this helps you not care as much because obviously it's really important to you.

Because Fop cares so much!

Ah you mean the total armed forces, see I told you I had next to no interest in Australia. ;)

If you're talking about total armed forces the UK's peak deployment to Iraq was around 50,000 personnel I believe.

And you still need some perspective. ;)
