  • 2 years later...

I just listened to him on a podcast with him (Undr the Cosh). Reflecting on his time at Newcastle he basically said:

- Shephard appointed him and had given a substantial amount of money to get into Europe that season.

- He had Modric  etc on the list but Ashley took over within a couple of weeks of his appointment and then he had to get Alan Smith and load of cheap/freebies instead

- He doesn’t blame Ashley for anything

- Sir John Hall totally blindsided Shephard by selling shares (even though he always promised Freddy first refusal)

- He said Shephard was devastated

- He doesn’t really take any responsibility for anything that happened here.

He later goes onto show he is a complete dinosaur by not understating how sideways passes or the benefits from playing out from the back helps.

Modric is an Allardyce type of player like. The hippo-heeded fraud.

Doesn't Keegan speak about wanting Modric, and yet Fat Sam is claiming that he wanted him? Which manager does the player seem more suited to?

KK had him lined up and he even trained with us iirc. But Ashley wouldn’t cough up the fee and that was probably the beginning of the realisation the promises wouldn’t be fulfilled. And aye, you could imagine Hippo Heed using that story and changing the details to make it about him. Funny how it’s never been mentioned once (to my knowledge at least) that Allardyce was in for him.

Didn’t we do all our business really early that summer too? Sure we already had the likes of Smith in when we went abroad for pre-season

From .com. Looks like Smith was later in the window. However, Ashley's 'freebies' included £10m of disclosed fees and an undisclosed amount for Alan Smith.

Hippo heed reckons he was only in 2 or 3 weeks. before Ashley bought it.

Looking at the dates:

Fat Sam was appointed 15th May

Fat Mike bought the club on 23rd May

Sounds like Sir John did royally fuck Shepherd (and the club) by letting him appoint a manager days before he sold his shares.

The Halls sold their shares when Shepherd was laid up in hospital too I think. Without telling him first.

In that case all of the players on that green table were Ashley players and Fat Sam is a lying, history rewriting prick.

Also, technically Sir John Hall fucked Ashley over too because it meant he had to pay off a con artist he never wanted to appoint. So it wasn't all bad. Probably saved us from having Pardew or Kinnear a lot sooner than we did.

Considering the payoff he got paid for his Spanish villa, you'd think the Cunt of Monte Bisto would be a bit more grateful.

If he had a hint of subtlety about him he’d have called that Casa Santiago instead

I've just had the great luck to see a clip of him talking about Sunderland and saying the only reason he left was because of England and he was building a good foundation there. Now either he's being a teeny weeny bit disingenuous, (hard to believe, I know), or he's saying his good pal David Moyes went in after him and totally fucked his good work up. Which one is it Samuel? He couldn't fuck off quickly enough as he knew he was basically handing over to his mate a complete shit sandwich with extra diarrhea sauce. They were getting relegated all day and every day that year, no money, shit team, no significant loans from decent sides they were absolutely fucked which is why they ended up dropping down two divisions in successive seasons. Great foundations though, Sam.

Wasn't it Tony Jimenez who blocked the move for Modric because he was too lightweight for the Premier League?

100%. Shepherd had pneumonia I seem to remember. It epitomises the Halls completely. Totally self-serving cunts!

And some people still believe John Hall is the reason our fortunes turned around in the early 90s. Bullshit! He did two things worthy of note:

1. Appointed Keegan
2. Shit himself in a hastily arranged TV interview when Keegan walked out in the "not like it was in the brochure..." moment and finally agreed to spend some money.
