David Kelly 1266
Forgot to add, since when did Wayne Bridge become such a horrendous footballer? For me he was just pipped by Gerrard as being the worst player on the pitch. The pair of them stood out in a team full of fucking awful performances. I agree with others who have said Crouch and Beckham were the only ones to come out with any credit (possibly Lampard too for showing the bottle to take the pen). Ally 0
Aye, Crouch did well but the number of headers he won where there wasn't a single player bothering to gamble to get on the end of it was ridiculous. Their 2nd goal started from exactly that. A long ball by Campbell, Crouch won the header but was totally isolated so it just ended up at a Croatian foot - within 30 seconds they'd scored. luckyluke 2
Every player, bar maybe Beckham and Crouch, was a disgrace to their shirt, their fans and their country tonight. As for McClaren, nothing less than crucifixion will satisfy me. Btw just knew Gol would be attacking Gerrard when you know who was just as bad. They were all shite, including Lampard. However, Gerrard escapes criticism for some reason, whereas Lampard gets slated. Apart from Bridge, Gerrard was the worst player on the pitch tonight. He must have made 1 pass which got to another England player. Fair play for admitting that, I fully expected you to be defending him! By the way what is it with rugby fans (like my housemate) wanting England to lose at football? I'm not a rugby fan but I still cheered England on in the world cup. Fucking scum the lot of them. Can't believe McClaren is even contemplating maybe still being in charge for the World Cup campaign Was maybe not Bilic's place to say what he did, but he's absolutely spot on. what did bilic say? i missed that? True, but that would require rewriting two words of his last song instead of just one. I'm thinking of the good of his tortured artist's soul here. sweetleftpeg 0
As much as I rate Lampard, he's the new John Barnes. Excellent for his club, piss poor for his country. I can't see that changing to be honest. Saying that, I think McClaren's problem was that he was trying to be too clever and play random and bizarre formations and tactics which just confused the fuck out of the players. He's then forced to change it back to a more simple style and..quel surprise..the team pick up. You can say our players are overrated but I still believe there's a lot of class in that squad, but we're picking teams and playing formations to stifle the oppostion, rather than play to our strengths. Too negative..but somehow familiar...although I can't quite put my finger on it..

Kevin Carr's Gloves 4042
Joe Cole is the biggest (smalest also) wanker in the team. Every time anyone went near him he went down as if shot. He made C Ronaldo look like a paragon of footballing honesty. Cunt.
Ally 0
McClaren said in the interview after the game when asked why he played 4-5-1 that they were aiming to 'stop Croatia playing'. Jesus wept.
sweetleftpeg 0
As much as I think McClaren is shite, if the England players really wanted it last night they would have gone in 100mph at the start. We went 2-0 down and people like Joe Cole were winning free kicks and throw ins then strolling around to take them. You'd expect a bit more fight tbh. Why not play to our strengths and let the opposition worry about us, rather than try to come up with an unsatisfactory (and ultimately unsuccessful) tactic to try and stifle them? If the fan in the street can see that why can't the coaches?
Shearergol 0
Embarrassing. About Lampard, he will duly get slated... didnt realise he was on the pitch until after half time (seriously). Thought we were just Gerrard - Barry in the centre. At least he didnt fuck up his pen. That's our golden generation then, a WC quarter and a no show. Nice. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/i...als/7106412.stm Gerrard:Distance covered: 11095m in 90 minutes Even though Steven Gerrard appeared to cover a lot of grass he was trumped by centre midfield team-mate Frank Lampard. Gerrard has not been at his best in the last few England games and against Croatia he failed to change the trend. His ventures into the penalty area were few - maybe coach Steve McClaren should have exploited his passion to drive forward that is seen so often for Liverpool. Lampard:Distance covered: 12216m in 90 minutes Apart from the penalty that allowed him to shine, Lampard was relatively ineffective. He ran more metres than any other player but along with Gerrard and Barry seemed confused as to what his role really was.
