There's a few smart barmaids in there. I think the old boiler, Jean was after you though. Always cheap on a monday night £1.75 for your Lager, Stones, Exhibition and Smiths. Not that many charvers get in the monkey nowadays. They tend to hang aboot down the highstreet. It's the absolute pits down there now. No passing trade. Just paupers and junkies.

Ye naa the worst thing about playing football at 33, ye brain knows exactly what to do, but ye body just doesnt give you everything you want nee more. Obviously worse again when you get to 39/40. Me brother in law still plays at 43 good player (but a mug) and he says its like running through treacle. It's canny sad really.

We should set up a TT 11 a side sunday league team. I could get money for kits etc through graft so that wouldn't be a problem. Fitness and getting enough men to turn oot, may be.

Worth thinking aboot?

Sure, I suppose I wouldnt mind a kick about with the TT lads. Fitness wouldnt be upto much though.

I'd be up for that.

RE the ref: Aye, he usually plays but has got an injury so just stood in the center pretending to ref. ;)

RE Jonny: You'll be fucked within 5 mins! Indoor or out?

I tell you what it is, I'm still sore now off Saturday, I was out and about yesterday, but it's me hamstrings, my thighs, me calf dear me. First proper game for a year that's what it is like. Walking like a proper cripple today however. Besty we can play again in the 3 weeks, will be a few different faces playing though, so if you can sort it out at your end - great.

Did anyone take any snaps of this epic battle?

Epic battle haha a bunch of charva's from Newcastle playing a bunch of charva's from Gatesheed. Haha. In all seriousness this forum should be big enough for toontastic to get a side. We'd have a good keeper sorted with Nick, Besty's areet, me, Ant and Barney play regularly, Mac Toon's got an athletes stamp on him, MancMag is supposed to be absolutely class, Alex there's 7 straight away.

I've started playing football again, after I was told to pack it in and concentrate on rugby. Only play 5-a-side on a Sunday with my mates at the minute though, taking it one step at a time.

  • 1 month later...

Brilliant game tonight. A catch up after the referee abandoned the game because their bench was hurling abuse at him a few weeks back. This team are on top of the table undefeated, but they only just scraped a 1-0 win over us earlier in the season.

We started the match with 9, they had a couple of subs. Held our own with 9, and by half time we had 11 and it was still 0-0. In the second we went behind to a relatively soft goal early on, and five minutes later conceded a second soft goal. At 2-0 down we upped our attack and got our first goal, then ten minutes later scored our second to equalise. Not too long after we gave away a penalty. Fucking typical. Anyway our keeper made a nice save then even better reacted quickly to save the follow up from the penalty taker. On a high from the penalty save we surged and threw everything at them eventually the pressure told and we scored a belter of a goal in the dying moments of the match. 3-2 win and with a week to go we're in with a good shout of making the finals.

Now that's why I play football.

Back playing 11-a-side. :icon_lol: They're playing me centre half though, which I don't like playing there at all.

Played down the JJB on Saturday morning, felt fine, fitness is much better. During the day, and especially Sunday me knee felt worse than ever, went to the hospital, the doctor said I haven't snapped the tendon's but pulled them, and she said "you're not getting any younger perhaps you should think about retiring" :icon_lol:

Just think, Cantona retired at 30 so you're not alone among greats if you retire now.
