Obafemi Martins has dismissed reports suggesting he is unsettled at Newcastle.

Martins has produced a number of eye-catching performances this season but competition for places at St James' Park is fierce.

The former Internazionale striker has been linked with a January return to Serie A, with Juventus understood to be interested.

However, the Nigerian insists he will not be going anywhere, and has pledged his future to Magpies manager Sam Allardyce.

"I'm very happy and settled at Newcastle, I don't take any notice of the stories saying I'll leave," Martins said in the Daily Express.

"And if Sam Allardyce is here for five years I will be here for five years as well.

"That is how much I enjoy playing for him. I don't think I'll be going anywhere while Sam is here.

"I'm scoring goals and I'm playing games, that's all you can ask for as a striker."

Martins, who joined Newcastle in August 2006, admits he did struggle to adjust to the English game initially.

He explained: "It wasn't that easy when I first came to Newcastle and it took me a few months to learn about the Premier League, about England and living in Newcastle.

"I had to adapt to the style of football and it took me some time, but I'm very happy here."

If Juve offered £13million I'd drive him there myself.

Non-stop and in a bullet proof car, obviously.

Why? You thinking of going via Nigeria? :D

The force is strong in Oba....have faith

...said a spokesman for the Midget's Union. :D For anything more than what we paid, we should be cashing in - FACT.

Only if we have someone better lined up, I would be worried to sell him for say £11m and have options like £7m Nugent and £17m Darrent Bent on the table.

I have a feeling your gonna be sucking on Nigerian dick come the end of the season when Yoda bangs 20 goals in and your left licking the wounds on your ginger ball bag where you've been kicked for talking stupid all season :D

Losing Martins would be ugly and unnecessary. How soon some of you have forgotten his performances last year. I believe Martins should be starting every game but if Big Sam wants to use him as a substitute I can see the logic in that too. We're not desperate for money here and although earlier it might have looked like we were overburdened with striking talent, Luque has gone, Smith seems locked in to midfield, Ameobi is rubbish and I'm not up for selling one of our three productive strikers.

(p.s. of course now Gemmill pops out of the woodwork. I don't recall hearing much of him while Martins was putting us in front against Spurs...)

That's probably because he was at the match to be fair.

:D Demonstrating some Magness. (ps what a fucking ridiculous concept, coined by a bloke who as far as I know has never ever set foot in Newcastle, never mind St. James' Park)

As for the other bollocks in your post, acrossthepond, about Martins' performances last year. Anyone who remembers anything other than goals remembers that the vast majority of them were sub-standard. Go and get your kicks on Route 66 and leave the adults to talk about football.

His performances last year, post-Spurs away were very ordinary in general. He wasn't that good before that either. I'm not saying he was shit last season, he did ok. His goals tally was bolstered by playing against some very ordinary teams in Europe however. What I mainly take issue with is the fact that people try and make out he was outstanding last season by pointing to his 17 goals (not bad for a 1st season in England I concede) but forget his 11 Premiership goals made him something like joint 12th highest scorer or something. It was an ok return, nothing more. And at times he was absolutely woeful. I know he was playing in a poor side etc. but he was a contributing factor to that often too.

A classic example of anti-magness! Shame on you. :D

Martins is a good player to have in the squad. He offers us what no bugger else does - pace. Plus he can score the odd goal.

Gemmill, you'd be better off saving your ire for those patently not good enough for regular first team football like James Milner. If we got our money back on him I'd be over the moon.

However, Oba is worth keeping.
