RlCO 0
Harrogate, the last mainland postal area without a Tescos is about to get one. They already have a Waitrose ASDA, Sainsbury's and Morrisons
Meenzer 15877
A Tesco Express just opened round the corner from here. First day they were open, the security guard stopped me and accused me of shoplifting. Apparently I looked "suspicious" because I'd brought my own shopping bag with me (German to the last...) to avoid having to use half a dozen of their climate-change-tastic plastic carriers. Gotta love that multinational customer service.
RlCO 0
Express is the worst. I know an Express not far from a Co-op, I swear they must use voodoo or mind tricks, as the Tescos always resembles a mosh pit, while if you walk into the Co-op you double the number of customers. Meenzer 15877
Aye, it's weird. They're actually only a few pence cheaper on most stuff than the three or four decent independent shops nearby, plus you actually get service with a smile there, but you can bet most of the latter will have sold up within a year or two. Seems like there's a definite "build it and they will come" thing with the Tesco brand. I mean I do my weekly shop there, but I don't really need them on every street corner. What's a consumer to do?
Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
This is the problem. Everyone would like their high street to have a good quality independent butcher, baker, greengrocer etc but the big supermarkets just make it so easy. luckyluke 2
I wouldn't have thought Tescos would get much custom in Harrogate tbh.
TheInspiration 1
A Tesco Metro opened up in Canterbury a couple of years ago at the top of the town centre. It's wonderful. Then again Canterbury's a bit boring so I can be exctied about things like that.
