I live in the UK. I want region 2 DVDs, don't I? I'll watch them on either a PS2 or an XBOX360. Will either of these let me enjoy a region 1 disc?

No, you will not be able to watch region 1 on either of those. I'm not sure if they have been chipped if that will make a difference.
