bawan 0
Levante have called an end to negotiations with Newcastle striker Albert Luque. The Spaniard was looking to leave the Premier League side in the current transfer window in order to put an end to his nightmare spell at St. James' Park, but after his wage demands escalated, the Primera Liga side have cancelled talks. Luque's father and agent is believed to have requested an 8million euros [£5.4 million] pay-packet over four years, which Levante have said is impossible for them to afford. The player will seemingly have to lower his demands if he is to complete a move away from England, after Espanyol and Real Betis also rejected the opportunity to commence negotiations with the striker. Levante have now moved to bring in an alternative forward, with the acquisition of Messina's Christian Rigano, for a fee of 500,000 euros [£340,000]. jaythesouthernmag 0
If Dyer & Solano are both off then we should hang on to Luque until the replacements come in
ewerk 31589
I don't think £26k pw is huge money, almost certainly less than he's on at the minute.
Guest alex
I don't think £26k pw is huge money, almost certainly less than he's on at the minute. And almost certainly more than Levante can afford at the same time though. Not the first time wages have been the stumbling block to a move if the PSV story was correct too, although you can't really blame Luque. He's probably asking for (as you suggest) about 15k a week less than he is on now.
Bombadil 0
His wages could well be even bigger. Wouldn't be surprised if he was on £50k or more.
Dr Gloom 22518
we're stuck with him. i have it on pretty good authority that his wages are ridiculous and he won't leave unless a club matches them - which means we're stuck with him unless we're prepared to pay about half of his wages while he plays for a different club...
