Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Wayne Rooney suffered a hairline fracture of his left foot as Manchester United stumbled at the first hurdle in their Premier League title defence, held to an Old Trafford draw by 10-man Reading. With Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea all scrambling victories from their opening fixtures, United immediately find themselves adrift after a game of missed chances. Not even the dismissal of Dave Kitson, just 37 seconds after his introduction as a second-half substitute, could provide the opening United so desperately searched for. But by far the worst problem could be Rooney's, who went down immediately after Michael Duberry had accidentally landed on his foot and failed to reappear for the second half. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Louis Saha already out, an injury to Rooney is just what Ferguson did not need and is only likely to hasten the debut of Carlos Tevez, who completed his move to United on Friday but - like all of United's summer signings - did not make the starting line-up
Tooj 17
Excellent news for the up and coming Euro 2008 qualifiers then, I know he hasn't done the business for England for a while, but our striking options up front are quite pathetic.

Craig 6702
Be interesting to see what Man Utd do about it what with the window still open. They obviously signed Tevez to play alongside Rooney, not instead of him and with Smith gone, I can't see them sticking with Saha. Wouldn't be surprised to see a sneaky bid for Gudjohnsen... Jusoda Kid 1
Is it just me or does it seem like all pro footballers are made of glass these days, slightest knock and they're fucked for weeks, must be too finely tuned

I bet there is a correlation between the players who wear them and the ones who have gone down with foot injuries over the last couple of years. Mark 0
Personally I don't think Tevez and Rooney could play in the same team, don't think he will be that big of a loss as Tevez is better anyway.

I do agree with what you're saying but people said the same about Shearer and Ferdinand but I suppose we won't really know for a while until Rooney gets back to full fitness. I do think Tevez is better than Rooney as well like.
Mark 0
Aye, they could link up amazingly like, but Tevez is awesome, he like a poor mans Viduka.

Further research shows I might be talking out my arse: Owen wears Umbro and Beckham and Ledley King wear Adidas yes but they wear the super special thin pairs of umbro and adidas. He needs a nice pair of 1inch thick specialis like shearer used to wear. He never had any MT problems! Wor Ashleys shop in the metro is selling them for £79.99. They are the only pair of umbros in there not to be discounted so they must still sell like hotcakes!
