Okay so i never claim ITK however......Ive heard from a lad I know at the club Enriques not going anywhere. Apparently his hamstrings are fucked and hes only able to play once a week max which makes alot of sense. So anyway this has put all the would-be suiters off

That's not exactly great news considering he's only 25. Whenever he does get an injury it's invariably hamstring so it does make sense, I guess he has the sort of build that's conducive to hamstring problems. You'd have to think that there would be specialists out there who could assist if that was the case.

Isn't NUFCfans similar to NUFCblog?

The phrase "doilum" was made for a bloke like nufcfans. Embarrasses me that with his 4000 followers he's the voice of NUFC fans as it were.

according to the Chronicle tonight, we are interested in half of Liverpool reject squad, including Konchesky. Should be able to negotiate a "business deal" with Liverpool for enrique then.

Hope we get some better players in return than when Shepherd sold them Hamman.

Most of the liverpool deadweight is underperforming foreign players plus koncheskey and joe cole that couldn't cut it. Given that liverpool were shit for most of this season and they still couldn't grab the opportunity, I fail to see why we would even look at any of them.

It's definitely true about Enrique's hamstrings. From what I've heard, and I can't name my sources, last time he went to the physio it went something like this:

Doc: So I'm just going to apply pressure in various places and you just let me know where it hurts, ok?

Enrique: Jaja

The doctor applies pressure to Enrique's ankles

Doc: Anything?

Enrique shakes his head

The doctor applies pressure to Enrique's calves

Doc: Well?

Enrique shakes his head

Enrique: No senór

The doctor applies pressure to Enrique's hamstrings

Enrique: JAJAAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA

ALAN PARDEW will look to get a definitive answer from Jose Enrique over his future before the player sets off for his summer break.

The Chronicle understands that United are keen to push on and make plans for the summer with Enrique’s decision vital to the Toon manager’s plans.

The left-back himself vowed to open talks with the Magpies the moment that Premier League safety was concerned and Pardew is keen to hold the waning Spaniard to his promise.

Enrique has been unsettled since January and the situation was hardly helped when Liverpool legend Phil Thompson claimed on a Norwegian TV channel that a transfer to Anfield for Enrique was a “done deal” in April.

United manager Pardew was quick to follow up and respond on April 13 when he said: “There’s definitely no deal between the clubs – 100%”.

Pardew will not want the Enrique saga to rumble on for too much longer especially after revealing in the Chronicle last week that the summer will be “used as an opportunity to rebuild.”

Toon players will head away for their holiday destinations after the final game of the season against West Brom on May 22 and Pardew will be a satisfied man if Enrique, Joey Barton and Kevin Nolan have all committed their futures to the black and white cause and he can concentrate on bringing in new blood.

However, Enrique has not assured anybody either way of his plans for next season and would not be drawn on his future in his first newspaper interview for five months after the win over Birmingham City.

And while Enrique did talk openly about the shape of the team ahead of next term, this hasn’t stopped United casting their eye over potential replacements with Stephen Warnock, Paul Konchesky and Cheikh M'Bengue all understood to be on Newcastle’s radar.

Liverpool have also been linked with Lyon left-back Aly Cissokho, Sporting Gijon’s Jose Angel and former Kop star Warnock himself.

This shows that while Enrique has been a long-term target of the Reds, they are still looking at alternative plans should Enrique remain on Tyneside – or, as some observers expect, he decides to quit for the bright lights of Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena or elsewhere in Europe.

Barton’s future is yet to be confirmed by United but, as the Chronicle revealed on April 27, the midfielder is keen to dedicate his peak years to the Magpies.

Pardew is understood to be spending the week in France running the rule over some of his transfer targets.

Meanwhile, another player to be linked with United, Malaga’s Jose Rondon, suffered a hamstring injury last night in his side’s 2-0 victory over Sporting Gijon and was withdrawn after 38 minutes of the La Liga fixture.

Jose Enrique may be set for United U-turn

Sunday Sun

JOSE ENRIQUE is pondering a dramatic U-turn over his Newcastle United future.

The Spanish left-back had all but decided to depart St James’ Park after the January transfer window sale of Andy Carroll, with Liverpool, Milan and Bayern Munich all circling round the 23-year-old.

Indeed United have been making plans for his exit in recent months with a bid lodged for Cheikh M’Bengue – the France under-21 international that the Sunday Sun revealed was on Newcastle’s radar back in March.

But with Milan out of the running after ear-marking Nigeria defender Taye Taiwo as their new left-back and United set to offer him a bumper new five-year contract with a substantial pay rise, Enrique’s future may still reside on Tyneside.

Kenny Dalglish is still desperate to add Enrique to his Spanish legion at Anfield but boss Alan Pardew told the Sunday Sun that the player had “absolutely not” indicated that he wanted a move. And he said that the club are still “optimistic” of retaining one of their most consistent stars, with United desperate to open talks on the £7million-rated star next week.

Pardew said: “He’s not indicated to myself or to Derek what his intentions are.

“We’re still optimistic - of course. I’d love to keep him. Absolutely love to keep him.

“But I think we have to be on our guard because there are so many noises about him. I think that’s the nature of the business we’re in.”

Newcastle remain deadlocked in discussions with Joey Barton, however.

Pardew is pressing the case for a new long-term deal for the midfielder, but there is a disagreement over the length of contract to offer him.

He wants a four-year deal while the club are only prepared to offer him a two-year contract with an option of a third.

Aston Villa and Hamburg are ready to pounce if United can’t broker a deal.

On Barton, Pardew said: “That is a process that will have to start when the season ends.”

The more Pardew says the more worrying it becomes.

When has he ever come out and said something that has turned out to be accurate regarding player contracts?
