Monroe Transfer 0
the fact they spent £35m on Carroll and £23m on Suarez shows serious intent by the owners to get the club back into the top 4. I'm not really disagreeing with your fundamental underlying point here but let's not make out that their owners went and spent £57m of their own money. They reinvested the £50m they made by selling Torres and then paid a little extra. They got another £8 mill or so for that dutch (I think) winger/striker who's name escapes me. Babel. StoneColdStephenIreland 74
We'll be lucky to see ten million spent and it will be the same old shite when the window shuts. "We went in for 'insert name' but because clubs know we have money to spend we were being quoted stupid fees, we will not be held to ransom" or some shit like that. exactly Were ganna buy shyte players, from shyte countries, for shyte money and show no ambition to replace our good players which we will undoubtedly sell

Agreed, but where as they went straight out and replaced Torres with Suarez and Carroll, it surely shows that all they were bothered about was re investing the money back into the transfer kitty where as ours is being invested into wages and most probably signing on fees! IYAM, Liverpool had accepted the offer in principle from Chelsea on the basis they could get cover, that cover being Carroll. They knew they were losing a player and were not happy to sell him until they were sure they had someone coming in. We on the other end decided to put bids in for Charles N'Zogbia! peasepud 59
the only way enrique will leave is either the fat twat and lambeyarse will force him out or if he sees a tempting offer from a bigger club Remind me again what the other alternatives are then? 1.Sold against will 2.Request transfer 3.? Marko 0
It's quite disappointing really, Jose genuinely loves the club and loves the fans, If he was given a personal guarantee (not that a guarantee from NUFC is worth anything!!) that all that £35m was being spent on players and we were gunning for Europe I'd have thought he'd stay in a heartbeat! But we are no liverpool, they always had much more of a chance of getting a quality replacement. Id rather us survive till the end of the season and then address the situation with a quality replacement when much more is available than a panic buy that we'd be lumbered with in january. Fwiw i do think we will spend quite a bit in the summer and we'll all be pleasantly suprised. If not then even myself, the eternal optimist will turn. FMA has one last chance to get it right, this summer is it. Edited April 11, 2011 by Tioté's Nutz

No. If he fucks up this time then i wont be on board. Im holding out hope that he will do whats right for the club. If he doesnt then il hold my hands up and admit i was wrong to stay positive. I think that alot of people will blow if things go wrong in the summer. Personally i think he'll either spend 30mil+ or he'll sell up and fuck off. We're not Liverpool no and we don't spend as much as them, however they knew Torres was off and found their replacement straight away, didnt pussyfoot about it, and stuck in an offer until we accepted. According to reports on the last day of the transfer window we all knew that there was a high chance Carroll would be sold, yet we paniced and didn't have any plan when the offer was finally accepted. Do what if he doesnt stump up for a few proven players this summer? What can we do about it if its loans, frees and cheapo has beens which are likely to see us flirting with relegation at best? The last 3 years have proven we're utterly powerless, anything tried is either an angry, well intentioned yet directionless protest or a clique-y, ego driven, village hall comittee bullshit fest.Thats not a dig at the folk on here who have been involved in NUSC/T, who come over as eminently sensible and I'm sure there are many more out there of the same nature, but it strikes me as its the egotists and operators who get to the posistions of power, and then can't do the sort of small time "democracy" thats needed for the role. If I've read the NUST thread wrong then apologies to those concerned, but its a huge wasted oppotunity. We're stuck with the fucker, just as he's largely stuck with us as I personally suspect he overpaid initially for us and now after all his "investment" we're hugely overpriced. So we're all fucked really

If we sign , for example , 5 players in summer ( ) I'll guarantee you 4 of them will be out of contract, free to a good home , shite. Ashley will not sell the club unless he gets £100million + every penny he's "loaned" us. If he can't sell us, and our value drops sufficiently, as it will under his current operating policy, we'll be broken up into saleable chunks and out of existence without a second thought from Wor Mikey. Craig 6700
BTW I almost guarantee that the deciding factor for Ashley to let Enrique go was the fact that Shane Ferguson appears to have been accepted and admired by the fans. Rather than us having a capable young prospect to provide decent backup cover with a view to take over in years to come, Ashley's decided to dispense with the idea of developing a squad as well as a team. Ferguson should be replacing Enrique on merit (like Kelly has by replacing Johnson at Liverpool), not by virtue of a simple fact that the bloke who had the shirt has been sold for profit. Christmas Tree 4858
Doesn't matter what Ashley does we'll all still be hanging on every game next season. Last season was enjoyable, this season has being quite enjoyable and Im pretty sure next season will be similar to this. Are we going to be challenging for the top four any time soon? No. Did anyone think we would be? No. Im expecting the summer to see Enrique go and hopefully Barton stay, (although I think he'll get some great offers to go). I expect us to sign some decent players, who may not be CL quality, but will still be better than what we have (Best / Shola) as well as some cheaper gambles from the continent and lower leagues to bulk up the squad. I expect us to start next season with a better squad than today and hopefully a very decent first 11 that will be capable of challenging for Europe or a good cup run. A first 11 that contains Colochini, Simpson, Tiote, Nolan, Barton, Ben Arfa will still be an exciting team, particularly if the additions are decent. (And not forgetting the possibility of Gosling and Ireland coming good). We are lead to believe that we will be making a profit this season and next, which can only be good news all round. We will be in a better position that a lot of the teams around us so the outlook imo is not bleak. A few decent seasons with steady improvement and we may well become a regular top 6 side. To expect much better is deluded given the money splashing about the top four. So the bottom line is this. You can fret about relegation, cling to the past (near) glory of the Keegan era or simply just accept that we are where we are and that doesn't mean we cant move forward and doesn't stop supporting Newcastle being an enjoyable pass time. That's rubbish. Enrique refused to enter contract negotiations long before Ferguson stepped in. He wants more than we can offer football wise and its as simple as that.
