I imagine he's playing cause he's still in the shop window. If Liv were serious he wouln't be allowed to play.

Assumed that was why Tiote, coloccini and Enrique hardly played a game between em.

Dunno like...if they kept him on the bench that's as good as saying the transfer is done now. The club basically need to keep up the pretence (that he may stay) til the last minute. I mean I could see him missing the 3rd game say, but not to be benched a whole month in advance. Could be totally wrong like.

Think the club have been fairly open about his impending departure all summer.

Pardew's just said he's playing on Saturday and there are no firm offers on the table. That might be the truth like but at no stage have they indicated that his departure is imminent. They've maintained the position there's an offer on the table and they'd like to keep him.

Still think Pardew has been very straight about wanting to keep him, but Joses desire to be elsewhere. Thats a million miles away from keeping up any pretence that he might stay.

Well that's a different thing altogether. Personally I don't believe a word Pardew says but that's by the by. If Enrique's departure is imminent and they know that, then the club have been anything but open about it.

What I meant is they've taken the stance that they want to keep hold of him, while obviously knowing they're not going to meet his wage demands. So they know they're not getting a new contract out of him either way and as such the optimum time for them to cash in their chips is August 31st. In order to achieve that, they have to give the impression they're happy for him to run down his contract and as such he needs to be seen to be starting the season as normal. The club has certainly never stated an opinion that his departure is imminent.

I'd have thought it would be worth Liverpools time waiting it out and seeing if fatty gets desperate on August 31st.

Not their style these days, more likely to table a £45m bid for Ferguson in the mean time

Have a butchers at this. It's from a shite paper like, but apparently 5.5 mil is agreed.............Fucking less than we paid for him!! Cunting ballsacks fat cock-end wanker Ashley. He was shite when he arrived and so much better now and you agree less?

If it's true, he is truly trying to piss us off. I do have a feeling inside though that we might not have to put up with him much longer. Players we have in all have re-sell value, and if we do fairly well next summer, he has a team worth selling for the young potential future of the team. One can only hope.

Sounds very plausible. It’s looked like a done move for months and it would be typical of FMA to ask for a stupid price for player who can leave for nowt in less than a year’s time, hence Jose’s twitter rant. £5.5m is about the money under the circumstances.

On a more positive note (because I know some of you like to positive) the selling our best players thing probably only has another 18 months to run.

Milner is going to Liverpool, I posted this in January, they would have bought him and Carroll but didn't have the cash at the time to buy both.

has Graham Carr found the new Ashley Cole kicking a ball around the local park yet ?

He's looking at some kid from LA he saw kicking a ball around the park. Santiago Muñez I think he's called. Not sure if he's any good, like.

The writing was on the wall when the chairman publicly refused to sign Carlos Kickaball....

If they hadn't let Gavin Harris go we wouldn't have a problem keeping our players. We've earmarked ourselves as a selling club. :D
