StoneColdStephenIreland 74
Due to the shite that's come from the club for the past couple of years I find myself now naturally siding with the player, which is piss poor for me to be honest. Let's face it, if Enrique does go I expect the club to go all guns blazing in blaming him for it. Same with Barton, they're keeping quiet about him at the minute because he's still an NUFC player but wait till he leaves, they'll wheel Pardew out to character assasinate him. Some of it might be true, but I'll take anything that Casino floor manager says with a pinch of salt. Who else they going to blame. They've offered him a new contract to stay, theres only Enrique to blame if he goes. (And fair enough if he wants to play CL football) Should still make his mind up one way or the other so a replacement can be acted on. With regard to Barton its already public knowledge that he has cooked his own goose by having too many things to say against the board whether that be statements to the press or talk-ins. The blokes a fool on that score. Not really, he'll be waiting to see if the clubs ambition matches his and to see what the contract situation really is like regarding other players, most likely As that twat Adrian Durham said the other night (and for the first time ever, I agreed with him): "I'm sick of hearing about players talking about clubs matching their ambition, what that really means is: I want more money". Aye but being the best LB in the Prem surely deserves a better wage? If it doesnt were asking for Bigger clubs to come in for him I the club matching his ambition as him getting a better wage and the club showing they are wanting to push on, by buying beter players and giving our core/best players contracts
Tom 14011
Enrique has been on £47k since he arrived like. Hardly buttons.

ewerk 30642
If he does sign, a few tenuous theories about us being a selling club might need to be re-visited. If he does sign, i will be of the view that the Carroll deal was a brave and ambitious deal that will allow the club to step up another level. Big ifs like but would be funny seeing as pages and pages of moaning and further entrenchment of views was based on Enrique leaving. Not really. Entering the final year of his contract means that he would've fetched below market value, the club's best option from both a footballing and financial perspective was to get him to sign a new contract. Dr Gloom 21954
if i signs a new contract i will be pleasantly surprised. we have the best back 4 we've had for years and enrique is a massive part of it. good lefties are tough to replace.

Deano 0
I got a text yesterday saying he was going to sign a new deal next week but the length was unknown. Would be fantastic if he did. Re-found his hunger and form and buys into the "vision". Cabaye signing is a positive sign and i think if Enrique does sign then we mite also see Nolan and Barton staying too. OTF 7297
Not in any way getting my hopes up, but it would be fan-fucking-toontastic news if he stayed. That to me would signal true intent.

Christmas Tree 4728
Alan Pardew on a European mission to keep NUFC stars ALAN Pardew has warned that Newcastle United will keep losing their best players unless they re-establish themselves in European competition. Pardew is braced for the worst in the battle to keep hold of José Enríque but admits he doesn’t blame his star left-back for casting around for a club playing Champions League football. United have made him a “lucrative offer” which would place him among the top earners at St James’ Park, but the defender is yet to respond to Newcastle’s overtures. It is a bleak scenario for a boss working hard to improve his squad but Pardew knows that without progression, United will always be under pressure from ambitious players who want to move up a level. It happened with Andy Carroll and another mid-table finish would make Cheik Tioté vulnerable as well. Pardew said: “We have got to become more competitive as a football club so players like José don’t want to leave. He has Champions League aspirations and he is waiting to see whether anyone who has qualified for that competition is willing to come in for him. “That is his right and there isn’t much more we can do about it. “We have tried as hard as we can, in the financial situation we are in, to keep him. We offered him an excellent deal, but he doesn’t seem to be interested in signing it at the moment. “It is frustrating – but that is the situation we are in. “It is up to him, but he wants to see what else there is for him.” Pardew has set a two-year deadline for United to return to European football, and says progress is essential if the club aren’t to suffer a repeat of the Enríque situation next summer. He added: “Unless we can become more competitive, finish in the top eight in the Premier League and, eventually, qualify for Europe, this will keep on happening. “It is extremely hard to keep hold of your best players without that status. “In the next two or three years we have to get back into that sort of position and then we can keep the best players and attract even better ones. “That is the challenge we have ahead of us. I don’t want to be in a position as manager where this keeps happening year after year – so we have to progress, and we have to improve.” United kicked off a busy week by tabling an offer for Paris-Saint Germain striker Mevlüt Erdinç on Sunday, while club officials continue to work on a deal that would see Demba Ba swap Championship West Ham United for St James’ Park. That move has become entangled in red tape but there is still a resolve on both sides to try to push it through. The bid for Erdinç – believed to be around £6million – is being considered by PSG. Interest in Wigan Athletic’s ex-Newcastle flier Charles N’Zogbia has cooled, and a move for Gervinho – a long-time target – seems dead. United are suspicious of the way the player is trying to spark a bidding war for his services and Gervinho did not come across well in a preliminary meeting with club power brokers. Newcastle have also been linked with France international Blaise Matuidi, the £12million-rated defensive midfielder who plays for Saint-Étienne. He has been watched, but the priority remains strengthening options up front.
ewerk 30642
Hard to find fault with his comments. Enrique has been around the club long enough to have figured out what our level of ambition is.

sweetleftpeg 0
Ryder got banned by Ashley and Llambias ages ago and only Hughton's intervention got him back in, so he's been playing lip service ever since.
