the guardian rumour mill has us making a bid for lillian thuram. he's exactly the sort of experienced old pro that sam would probably get at least another 4 years out of. hope it's true.

Aye, but aren't their rumours created in the same way as Family Guy storylines? Selected by manatees?

i thought they were just a round up of the red tops so it's probably rubbish, but for once we're being linked with the kind of player we actually need which is encouraging.

NEWCASTLE United face competition from North East rivals Middlesbrough and Sunderland for the signature of Man Utd forward Alan Smith, according to The Sun

The Journal meanwhile says that Smith is not on United's shopping list, with Big Sam focusing on bringing defenders to St.James' Park

And one of those defenders, according to the same paper, could be AZ Alkmaar full-back Gretar Steinsson with the Icelandic international also a reported target of Middlesbrough

The Daily Star carries a story linking the Magpies with a move for Lens' Serbian midfielder Nenad Kovacevic, while they again mention Bolton's Abdoulaye Faye as a potential target

Spurs could use Ivory Coast midfielder Didier Zokora as bait in an approach for Kieron Dyer, according to the Daily Mail

They also claim that United are still tracking FC Copenhagen centre-back Brede Hangeland

Round up from .co.uk gossip section.

Don't want him, seems to run about all the time without actually doing anything. :icon_lol:

To be fair, he was a great player and turned in some awesome performances for the danish national team, but the whole Real Madrid adventure turned some screws. Have completly lost the plot as of late
