I'd have taken him over Souness without knowing what was going to happen. Without a doubt.

I'm not doing too well at saying what i mean! I meant i'd have stayed with Bobby as boss if i'd known that Souness was going to be the new manager full stop, not that i'd have chosen Bobby as it turned out shit under Souness because sadly i knew it would go tits up with that fuckwitt in charge.

That's ok then. I think 90% of people would have been the same anyway. I was genuinely gutted 1) When SBR went and 2) When the Scottish Fuckpig © Leazes was appointed. You just knew it would all end in tears.

Just a thought, but could the £10m be a ruse? Think about it, we have a new billionaire owner and everyone is expecting us to spunk loads of cash because we have it (I've gone into this in more detail in another post so I wont repeat myself)and because of this, people put their prices up.

What better way to minimise this than to say "Sam, you only have 10m to spend this time around as we are strategically reviewing the business". Then whilst sniggering behind their hands, say to Sam "actually you can have a bit more, but don't tell anyone".

Like I say, just a thought.

Don't know if its exactly true, but as he's a good business man i agree with you that he wouldn't come out with Fat Fred like stupidity telling everone what's happening, and as you say raising prices. I think suffienect funds will be there for Big Sam to at least bring in a LB and a CB and good ones at that.

But i agree, this adminisration unlike the previous fat moron don't just love the sound of their own voives and feeling important. There's no way this lot would allow what happened with say Bellamy where the manager and chairman systematically ransacked his character and playing ability and told everyone we were desperate to sell, thus halving his value! Now we'd see the Fergie style talking up of anyone you're looking to sell and not getting rid on the chepa, ie as we're doing with Dyer.

Souness didn't receive proper backing from the fans. Everything was in place for that man to stamp his seal on this club and make it great again, but the fans didn't want to know.

:icon_lol:I LOVE YOU GRAEME!!!!!!!!!

Must be true then :icon_lol:

But you take my point though. It's not good business sense to tell everybody how much you have to spend at the beginning as everyone wants the biggest slice they can get. It makes far more sense to play your cards much closers to your chest and let the press divert attention away from you.

At the end of the day, the papers don't give a rats ass, not even about accuracy any more. They just need something to fill the inches and shift the papers.

Edit: I thought I posted this after Gemmil, not Ewerk. My comment was referring to the Sunday Sun.

One aspect that I've thought of is that Ashley and Mort may be suffering a bit from "Gullit syndrome" - by this I mean they have no real sense of how desperate a lot of fans are for daily news and moreover how "important" the club is to people. Sound bites about passionate fans are one thing but I think in the end Gullit was shocked by how deep this attitude and need for "news" was/is.

Of course Shepherd at least did know this but went too far on too many occasions.

True, such is the obsession up here that in its own way, saying nothing leads certain sections of our support to mad speculation and believeing any old shite they see in the press.

The balance is avoiding Fat Freds publicity seeking and often idiotic and embarassing outbursts, but whether from Big Sam or Mort a regular supply of information when pertinent to keep the fans from going on what crap the cockney media or our very own shit stirrer Anal Oliver are coming out with.
