Allardyce fails with left back bid

Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce has seen his bid to sign Paris St-Germain's Senegal left back Boukary Drame hijacked by French side Sochaux.

Allardyce had set up a £1m move for Drame and expected to open talks, but the defender agreed a three-year deal with Sochaux last night.

Now Newcastle could start the season without a recognised left back as Celestine Babayaro is currently in Germany receiving treatment for a hamstring problem.

Darn, ah well if he was any good he would have been worth 5mill.

And there would have been bigger and better clubs in for him, was thinking this yesterday when reading it in the papers. Best young left back in France, then why aren't arsenal in for him?

Because Glichy is the best young left back in England.
