Tom_NUFC 0
Jack Penate - Heard a bit of him. Not fussed either way Kate Nash - Haven't heard enough to judge Hadouken! - See above The Twang - Nothing new, Happy Mondays rip-off, but I like the Happy Mondays. I like these. CSS - I like them New Young Pony Club - These aren't bad either. The Gossip - No no no no no no NO! Not a fan. The Horrors - Saw them live, they were OK, but nothing special Orson - Aaaaggggh! Which tw@t gave them a deal? Just Jack - Who? Amy Winehouse - Na. I don't get the fuss.
Mowen 0
Winehouse is a little bit interesting at least, even if she does sound a bit like Ms Dynamite. Standing in the way of Control is a class single, haven't heard too much of them though, and I like the Kate Nash single as well, I think it's the backing track that makes me enjoy it, not sure though. Just Jack is utter wank though, he played at our uni and it was shit, every song sounds the same. Luckily the D&B tent opened about half way through his set so there was something to look forward to. Oh, and Orson are pretty awful too. Edited July 26, 2007 by Mowen
Guest alex
Winehouse is more Motown with a bit of caberet chucked in. She sounds alright. Not sure about interesting. A few tatoos and she does drugs? Not exactly unusual.

BTW, Clubland 11 is shite.
Gemmill 44889
Kasabian is music for cavemen. They were fucking dreadful at Live Earth. First time I'd ever seen/heard them and I couldn't believe my eyes/ears. You'd have to have something wrong with you to voluntarily listen to that shite. Mowen 0
If I hear that Umbrella song once more I'm going to find Rihanna and beat her with one. I quite like it to be honest, decent pop tune. Mind, it had already been at number one for about 7 weeks when I first listened to it!
Sima 0
Umbrella song shit enough just for the reason that she has added another syllable to make it fit into the tune. What a spaz
Rob W 0
Its' always the same - about 25% of new music is total rubbish, 25% is hyped (Pony Club look like this) and 25% are one hit wonders Listen to it all - otherwise your brain silts up and you go around thinking Bob Dylan (or whoever it was when you were 18) is the be all and end for eternity at my advaced age I would say that kate nash - good first song but any staying power? just jack - same as above Winehouse - definitely a new take - could fade in 2-3 years Rianna - pure pop - v good but heh guys - its not meant to MEAN owt! Kasabian - some good stuff so far but dreadful at Live earth Maximo park - need to get their act together, drifiting at the moment My Chemical romance - inventive, look good live, very dependent on mr smooth chops up front - Arctic Monkeys - good music but no "personality"

Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
The current crop of 'up and coming' is almost twice as shit as even the dregs of britpop (Symposium/Dodgy) How very dare you! Symposium were class live.

There WAS less available to listen to - only things like radio Luxemburg and a few BBC Light programme shows but anyone who talks about a "golden age" is talking crap - there was as much rubbish around in 1958, 1968, 1978 ... as there is now

Rob W 0
"might be" were my actual words - I'd say that about 25% of music will be thought to be good by SOMEONE other than the bands mother
Guest Patrokles
Those who think that there are no worthwhile bands/ good lyricists around nowadays need to get off their arses and not expect to just be spoonfed amazing music by MTV or BBC Radio. Happy Face 29
I’m going to youtube the top 40 and see what I like, I’m not sure if I’ll have heard any of them before. Perhaps I’ll find something I want to listen to more of… Timbaland Ft Keri Hilson - The Way I Are What struck me most about this is that the official video is sponsored by McDonalds Quarter pounder. What the fuck? Not content with selling out their big hits to advertisers, pop stars these days do a pre-emptive sponsorship deal. Timbaland keeps doing all this dope producin, but it’s a shit song. The Push It sample just made me think I’d rather listen to Push it. Shit. Kate Nash – Foundations Nice jolly intro….Jesus wept. I take it this is a rival record company’s push for the Lily Allen market. Shit Rihanna ft Jay-Z - Umbrella Sponsorship deal number 2, this one is from Covergirl. Christ. This was number one for 3 months? She’s got a nasty voice, sings from the back of her throat in a grating high pitch fashion but occasionally throws in a Britney style growl. Looks like Posh spice too. Shit. Fergie - Big Girls Don't Cry That’s a nicer huskier voice, and a nice simple acoustic. She’s insisting on doing those Christina Aguilera falsetto bits though. Probably the least shit so far, but still shit. Enrique Iglesias - Do You Know? 2 minutes of comedy video first. I did like how the Ping Pong worked into the track though. Just a shame the sound of a ping pong ball through a track is annoying as fuck and really weak sounding compared to the huge sound of the rest of it. And why do all these singers really put all their guts into sounding like they REALLY mean it when it’s patently obvious they could be singing about blu-tac for all they care. Shit The Hoosiers – Worried about Ray Drums and guitar, this could be alright, starts with a bit of distortion, nice, then seems to turn into Happy Together by The Turtles, which was a class song…40 years ago. Nice stop motion, shit song. Avril Lavigne - When You're Gone Think I’ve heard the chorus from this one before. She’s the worst offender for doing the Britney croak, bit more subtle about it, but far more frequently. Actually I’ve not heard it, I was thinking of that new Since you’ve Been Gone (not the Rainbow Classic), this is worse than that. Shit. Groove Armada - Song 4 Mutya An act I quite like, well I say that, I see you Baby was infectious and At The River was nice. She’s doing that vocoder voice thing that Cher and Kylie were doing 15 years back. Least shit yet. Wouldn't have me giving them another chance though. Mika - Big Girl (You Are Beautiful) Queen – Fat bottomed Girls Shit Manic Street Preachers – Autumnsong Never liked the Manics, and even pillaging the Sweet Child Of Mine intro doesn’t make this any better than their normal shit. This isn't going well, 11-20 to follow.
