jaythesouthernmag 0
Royston Drenthe from Feyenoord might be a good signing. He looks quick, can beat a man and has a few tricks too. Pretty two footed as well.
2bias 3
i'd be more than happy with shaun wright phillips as a replacement. we'll be missing pace in forward areas if dyer does go. that would be a good replacement. need something like the parker barton thing someone younger and a bit better Edited July 26, 2007 by 2bias
Barney 0
It's a Dyer dilemma Jul 26 2007 by Alan Oliver, Evening Chronicle KIERON Dyer’s future hung in the balance today. And it could all be decided on just who wins the battle of wills between Newcastle United and West Ham. The Chronicle revealed last Thursday that West Ham wanted Dyer. And at the time our information was that while the 28-year-old England midfielder was aware of this, he was waiting to see if any of the big boys would come in. This does not look like it is going to happen, and while Sven-Goran Eriksson has always been a Dyer fan, a move to Manchester City would make a mockery of the claim the player wants to leave St James’ Park to be closer to his family in Ipswich. That leaves West Ham, who are fully aware of Dyer’s history of injury problems and the fact that he has a medical condition that will be with him for the rest of his life. A source close to West Ham told me today: “It’s all right Sam Allardyce saying that Dyer will not be leaving St James’ Park unless it is in the interests of Newcastle United and that he will not be cheap. But talk of £5m for Dyer is pie in the sky. “West Ham will look to make a down payment of around £1m and then payments on a batch of 10 or so games because of the problems with insurance regarding his medical history. “So if Dyer does come to Upton Park it will be on West Ham’s terms and not Newcastle United’s.” The situation with his family – he has a partner and two children back in Ipswich – the departure of his big pal Titus Bramble, and a worry about playing out wide for United have unsettled Dyer. But unless they hear from West Ham today he will be in United’s starting line-up against Celtic tonight. West Ham, of course, are throwing money around and the Dyer situation is not likely to be affected by this week’s arrival of Freddie Ljungberg. But if reports of a club record bid of £12m for Nicolas Anelka are correct, this could change the whole situation. Hammers boss Alan Curbishley spoke about Dyer for the first time after last night’s 3-2 friendly defeat at MK Dons. He said: “It’s not very often that a club says that a player is available. “The situation is that Kieron wants to leave the club, as I understand it, but I don’t know anything else. “We get linked with a lot of players at the minute, and he’s one of them. “I have one eye on everything until that window closes – so we’ll have to see.” icnewcastle
Gemmill 44891
West Ham playing it tough. Give it a week before the baldy biscuit baron comes in with an £8m offer tbh. On the news this morning that Anelka has a £10m release clause at Bolton - how much does the bloke at West Ham offer? TWELVE million!
Barney 0
The main positive is that West Ham are involved. Only Newcastle could be the sole team getting screwed during the most over-inflated transfer window of all time.

Exactly, doesnt really matter what is being said in the press at the moment from our people. If we can't squeeze a decent fee out of the Hammers then we should be ashamed

I see that's back yet again, aye really learnt his lesson. And wtf? He's got no friends to play with so he wants to go home....... 28 years old? or 28 months old? East London being just a stone's throw from Ipswich too of course. And he'll be there every night.

Only Newcastle could be the sole team getting screwed during the most over-inflated transfer window of all time. Would you rather we were doing what West Ham are doing though? I know they've paid over the odds on players, but their squad is already better than ours, and they're still looking for more players. How come they're finding it easy to sign players when Allardyce has basically told us that it's impossible for us to sign anyone?
Barney 0
As long as they aren't 'doing a Leeds' or Rich Tea isn't going to do a runner, then I'd rather that we were spending like mad. Worked for Chelsea didn't it?
Jill 0
I heard that Dyer was on the team bus on his mobile to his agent immediately after the Carlisle game. My source is the brother of a chef who heard it from one of the new dietician types. Apparently the same day he also lost a massive bet on the golf or something and he was in the process of trying to put another bet on to win the money back when the bus driver moved the bus forward a bit to get the rest of the team and he lost the signal on his phone. Bound to be a sack of shit all round, but I giggled..
