England have dropped out of the top 10 of FIFA's world rankings for the first time since September 2005 and are now ranked 12th. The drop means Steve McClaren's side have fallen to their lowest placing since June 2004 when they were 13th under Sven-Goran Eriksson. England have not played since the last rankings were announced but have dropped four places from their position of eighth in June. Holland, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Mexico, who have leaped 16 places, have all overtaken McClaren's team. Brazil and Argentina have both benefited from their surge to the final of the Copa America, with Dunga's side moving up two places to assume top spot following their victory in the competition and Argentina rising to second. Italy, who Brazil replaced in first place, are now in third, while World Cup runners-up France also drop two spots to fourth.
