Anyone for a sweepstake for how much we will spend from now until the end of the transfer window?

Allardyce's patter the other day did make it sound like he's missed out on some of his targets. I'd like to think that now that's all out the way we might go on to spend £20m or so, but we'll see. We shouldn't be going into the season with the squad as it stands, that's for sure.

Yeah very true. SA has missed out on a few of his top preferances. He also has to factor in that the real good players want to play in a European competition and also a lot prefer to live in London.

 

Having said that though, this is a new era for the club. I'm sure there a a few out there who know the club is going up. Time will tell, but now the club is officially under the full and total control of MA, things should hot up a little now, transfer wise.

Hopefully this is what they have been waiting for and now SA will be given the green light to spend. These guys aren't muppets and they will know that our squad isn't good enough to get to where they want to be (especially when you consider the spending of clubs above us (Manure, the bin dippers, Chelski, the yids) and below us (citeh, wist am etc)) so they are going to have to release some fairly major funds. If Wigan and Fulham can spend what they have surely we must be able to spend at least as much without needing MA to even really dip into his own stash.

I can see us spending another 10-15 million on a couple of players. Don't see us spending more that 7million for anyone player though.

I don't think it came out like that at all. I think he was just venting a bit of frusration that he hasn't been allowed to do his job as much as he would have liked due to the situation we have been in (ie waiting for Ashley to have absolute control).

Aye I didn't read it as excuses either. I think he's just pretty impatient to get on with things and he's been frustrated by some dithering at the top. That needs sorting sharpish.

I expect things to pick up from here. I don't think we'll bring in any 'Galacticos' but a couple of solid defenders would not go amiss.

reckon their will be a fair few coming in, think a rebuild will start in january though. wonder what his actual budget is. i'd place it at £20million, that would get 3-4 jobbing players or one galactico (sic).
