Juventus fixture cancelled

Posted on: Tue 17 Jul 2007

Coventry City Football Club has cancelled the pre-season friendly against Juventus, which was arranged for July 31 at the Ricoh Arena.

Having agreed with the Italian club and its mandated match agents that the game was confirmed, the fixture was announced last Thursday.

However, Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri wavered over the weekend regarding the fixture, despite entering into an agreement with the Sky Blues.

Coventry City attempted to resolve any issues Mr Ranieri may have had but the lack of communication from Juventus over the weekend and the early part of this week meant that the Club was left with no alternative but to cancel the fixture.

Said Managing Director Paul Fletcher:

"Juventus have shown a real lack of professionalism after everything was agreed.

"Both clubs had entered into an agreement on the arrangements made and for one of the biggest clubs in Europe to renege on their undertaking is bitterly disappointing."

Coventry City is hopeful of arranging another fixture at the Ricoh Arena for the same date.

Lets hope they only pull out of this one.
