Emre: New-look Magpies to soar

Newcastle schemer Emre believes a new-look strike-force of Michael Owen and Mark Viduka can help The Magpies shake off the malaise that has hindered the club in recent seasons.

There is an air of expectancy about the North East club ahead of the upcoming season, as new manager Sam Allardyce has called for a change of culture and begun to overhaul the playing squad.

Viduka, Geremi, David Rozehnal and Joey Barton have all arrived over the summer, whilst Owen should be raring to go after missing the majority of last season due to a serious knee injury.

Emre hopes that the injection of new blood, and the return to fitness of Owen, will have a palatable impact on a team that limped into 13th place in the Premier League last season.

"We will do much better next season with these players here," said Emre.

"Both Mark Viduka and Michael Owen will help us perform much better and finish higher in the table than last season."

Emre missed the conclusion of the previous campaign due to an ankle injury, but is hopeful of proving his fitness ahead of Newcastle's visit to Bolton on the first day of the season.

"I don't think I can do any ball work for three weeks, but hopefully I will be ready for the start of the new season," Emre added.

Meanwhile, Allardyce has explained he is unwilling to let some of his fringe players leave on loan due to changes in the transfer regulations that prohibit short-term deals.

"The loan system has changed in the Football League this year and has now converted to the same system we have to put up with, which is only year-long loans," said Allardyce.

"You can't do any more emergency loans, or one, two or three-month loans.

"It means if I am going to let a player go on loan, it's effectively a short-term transfer. There's no call-back or recall on that particular player.

"The last thing I want to do is leave myself short if anything happens."

Interesting how he says owen and viduka and takes martins out of the equation. What do you guys think the reason is?

Why do you want him to leave? I think that he can be a huge success under Allardyce.

He has a lot of potential.

thats what you think

I'd get rid of him and get Van der Vaart.

Not quite as easy as that.

Anyway, I think most players should be given another chance under a manager who actually knows how to manage players.

Emre was fantastic before the turn of the year and the best player we had for at least a couple of months.

It goes without saying.

Inter Milan don't play crap 20-year olds in their first team in a season where they get into the Champions League semi-final.

What's that got to do with it? Depo don't play shit spanish internationals in their first team either. Does that make Luque one of our best players?

He's been awful since signing for us, that's all that counts. Get rid now whilst he's still got a little value. I'd rather see Viana back, and that's saying a lot.

Luque is also a good player, but you can't really compare the two.

Last season, many players were awful and under Souness everbody awful. We should keep the players we have that actually have the ability to lift the side from mid-table.

I don't rate Emre at all, really hope he's not here next season.

You don't rate T2 though. :D

*This posts shows nothing on my stance on Emre btw, just Ally's incompetent taste in films!*
