wykikitoon 21469
I have to be honest, he wasnt my first choice, but after a string of shite at the "helm" of NUFC I thought he would do better than slug boy with his eyes shut. So after the sigings in the last few weeks and the shipping out of some shite, I have to say, I am very pleased the way things are going I now have a strange buzz of pre-season thats been missing since SBR was here!!! COME ON!!
ewerk 31586
I also had doubts over his appointment. So far we've signed a few decent players which is encouraging and the backroom seems to be shaping up but I'll judge him on what happens on the pitch. I think you've got things the wrong way round a bit there. First and foremost you should be judging him on the fact that he looks to be turning things round in terms of the infrastructure of the club. I'm not expecting instant success on the pitch, as I reckon a lot of the changes he makes in that regard will be more gradual, as the effects of improved coaching, sports science, psychology and all that come to fruition. So as long as we're moving in the right direction, I would forgive him a poor start to the season or whatever. Thankfully, I don't think we'll get a poor start to the season - I think we're going to improve enough to have a decent season, and hopefully turn into a very good team/squad over time. Ditto and re: the beginning to the season the first ten games , we've five at home where I'd honestly want maximum points, with only Villa and Spurs being a concern. the away games are more of an issue, I hope for at least a point from Everton, Reading and Boro, Bolton is impossible to gauge because it's first game of the season, Big Sam's return to Bolton, and we're never predictable at the Reebok. Derby I'd want 3 points as well. This is obviously a excessively optimistic view. I'm looking at 18points from a possible 30 and that's just a little too high for my pessimistic standpoint. The Fish 11068
but at least this year, we've seen genuine change at the top, which has always been that which neded the overhaul

First and foremost you should be judging him on the fact that he looks to be turning things round in terms of the infrastructure of the club. Yes he's putting into place an infrastructure which appears to be a good idea but we could have the best infrastructure in the country but it means nothing without results on the pitch. Our players may be fit but unless we're playing with a system that suits the players we have rather than trying to adapt to Sam's previous style then it means nothing. What I'm saying is that while many people are creaming themselves about the coaching/medical changes being made I'll wait until I see improved performances on the pitch before I can say whether the changes were a success or not. Isegrim 10017
i'm expecting another transitionial season of rebuilding tbh. how many of those have we had recently? In how many of those seasons did really a rebuilding process start take place - except of the usual "I'm crap but please, please, please give me more time to fix it"-excuses from inept managers who were just throwing with money after players? Barney 0
I was a bit nervous(still am I suppose) about the appointment due to the bruiser style of football that Bolton have played for the last few seasons, reminded me of Wimbledon. I was also wary of the bung type links surrounding him. However, I'm really impressed with the way he's going about things. He's filling the squad up quickly which was really important, shifting out the crap as well. The way he talks about training methods and how he intends to go about things is exactly what we need IMO.
