Jimbo 175
Eidur Gudjohnsen is determined to fight for his place at Barcelona despite reports linking him with a £4.5m move to Newcastle, according to his father. Arnor Gudjohnsen, who also acts as his agent, said the striker would be keen to form a partnership with new £16.1m signing Thierry Henry next season. "A lot of clubs are interested in Eidur," Gudjohnsen told BBC Sport. "But he is determined to prove himself at Barca. He would compliment Henry because they play differently." He added: "I don't think the forward partnership of Samuel Eto'o and Henry would work as well. "Eidur can drop deep and play off Henry, which I think would work much better." Earlier, reports suggested that representatives from Newcastle were in Barcelona to negotiate a deal with the club's Brazilian midfielder Edmilson and the 28-year-old Iceland international. Gudjohnsen played under Magpies boss Sam Allardyce when they were both at Bolton, before the forward moved to Chelsea in 2000 where he spent six years. He moved to the Nou Camp in June 2006 for £8m, but failed to cement a regular place in the starting XI last season. Last month, the forward suggested he was keen on a return to Britain, in particular Manchester United, if Barca were to sell him. The player's father said there had not been negotiations with any clubs, although he added he was unsure as to whether his son featured in Barcelona's plans for next season. "Eidur is away on holiday now and he has not been in contact with any clubs. He is planning to meet up with his Barcelona team-mates for pre-season later in July," he said. "Although he wants to stay, I don't know what Barcelona's intentions are."
Gemmill 47051
Skimmed through the quotes there and didn't realise it was his dad speaking on his behalf when it said "Gudjohnsen told BBC Sport". I'm thinking who is this fucking arsehole?! I've heard of footballers talking in the third person, but this is taking the piss. "Eidur is on holiday right now..." Baggio 0
I'm sure he'd rather sit on Barca's bench than ours tbh...

As an attacking midfielder maybe, although his goal stats for Chelsea in his last season don't look too promising when he played in midfield. Viduka's a better striker than him, both share similar attributes but the F.A.B has more end product.

He's right like, Eidur has the vision, the strength, the touch and the experience to feed a striker like Henry perfectly. Eto'o is another lightning fast, clinical finisher that scares the bejesus out of every defender he faces... so we should take Samuel off their hands.. I mean, they wouldn't want a player like him kicking his heels now would they?
Kid Dynamite 7312
He didnt get a game before henry was there so what makes him think he will get ahead of eto, henry, ronaldinho, messi, deco etc now. Wise up son, go to a club that wants you.
Dr Gloom 22510
i rate him but i don't think he's got enough pace be replace owen or martins. he'd be a good replacement for shola though. a front 4 of owen, martins, viduka and gudjohnsen would be up there with the best in the premiership. Offshore Toon 0
He would be a very useful player who would feature in around 40 games in a season without Europe. By 'feature' I include substitute appearances as well.
Sima 0
Even if he was available, I'd be very surprised if better teams than us weren't in for him.
snakehips 0
Even if he was available, I'd be very surprised if better teams than us weren't in for him. I agree. If he suddenly decides he's up for a move he will probably end up at AC Meelan, Real or Inter (I would have done the Italian colour names for Inter/AC - azzurineri/rossineri or whatever these cool people like to call them Wankers.).
