tinofbeans 91
I think what you're trying to say is... [Mary Whitehouse Experience]This has got a good beat![/Mary Whitehouse Experience] Exactly. or am I? Agree re the mastering processes used nowadays. one of my racing club mates does or did PR for an alien looking tall talentless gimp (who shall remain nameless), and said when they heard the album, that it was so well put together. what of course he meant was sterile and boring and very possibly cliche'd. some modern music is so very dull. some really really good, and its rare to see groundbreaking stuff. Different strokes and all that.
ChezGiven 0
Put that Objekt Ganzfeld track on here when it was released, same story "been done before", "sounds like Speedy J" ( ) "nothing original" etc. I think those views miss the point. The Stones werent producing ground breaking music in the 60's, they were executing on an existing style in a way that was better than had been done before (give or take a few technical caveats). Rare to see 'groundbreaking' that is actually highly enjoyable music to dance to, which is the bottom line in this genre. I'm not stroking my chin wondering if the sound is too derivative or whatever, i just judge things on whether they sound good to me. That Objeckt track was eventually voted best of the year by the RA writers, so i know i'm not out on a limb with my tastes.
Alex 34717
I've not listened to it all but there's some great stuff amongst it, someone's done a break down (...) of the tracks here: https://rareafx.wordpress.com/aphex-twin-old-dat-and-cassette-demos-soundcloud-jan-2015/ I see there's a lot of Selected Ambient Works-era stuff so I'll have a look, ta. Edit: You're spot on, some very nice stuff on there and right up my street. Edited February 5, 2015 by Alex

Be nice to get them all those on one retrospective though. Robert Hood is class. Love that Rhythm of Vision track. Alex 34717
Sound mate, let me know what you think. Had a listen on Mixcloud yesterday. Really liked it. Thought it had a bit of a 'Basic Channel' vibe about it, especially the first half.

Alex 34717
They're in danger of becoming too samey. Aye, in fact I would say they've already fallen into that trap (got their debut album). When it works well it's cool though.
The Fish 10659
They should "pursue individual projects" or whatever. Come back in a couple of years or so. Mind they might not be popular next time. I dunno I'm not a PR bloke
