Chris Coleman is set to return to football management in Spain less than three months after being sacked by Fulham.

article continues below...

Real Sociedad have turned to the 37-year-old former Wales defender, who is to be unveiled in the next few days.

President Maria De La Pena believes Coleman will bring "freshness and new ideas" to the club, who were relegated from the Primera Liga for the first time last season.

The former Cottagers boss was recommended by compatriot and current Wales coach John Toshack, who has managed the San Sebastian side on three separate occasions.

The club's former coach Salva Iriarte is to work alongside the Welshman after being given the post of sporting director.

The move is subject to the new board being ratified on Saturday.

Delighted for him. Every season, I wish for Fulham to go down because they're such a pathetic mickey mouse non-entity outfit - they played Chelsea in the League Cup 16,000 turn up and 10,000 of them are Chelsea - utterly pathetic club. Lee Clark had it right when he said Chris Coleman should be manager of the season every season for what he did with Fulham, yet they sacked him??!? What do they want? It was a disgrace and Coleman is a good lad in my view, the way it happened was shocking and topped off a shite week for him after revelations that his wife had been bugging his car because she thought he was humping somecunt else.

Anyway today he's been given a really good opportunity, and has been appointed manager of Real Sociedad. They're not Barca or Madrid, but it's still a well respected job, they were in the CL not so long ago, and maybe it will herald the beginning of English coaches trying their luck abroad and obviously gaining more knowledge of systems, players and the game. He's got some cracking games to luck forward to, Nou Camp, Berabeu, Mestaella, the two Basque derbies with Athletic, he deserves this. Fuck Fulham hope yous fuck off to the Conference.

Good luck Chris, canny bloke, but you don't look Welsh.
