FREDDY SHEPHERD looks set to survive Newcastle’s savage boardroom cull.

 

New Toon owner Michael Ashley will today accept the resignations of all the directors at a meeting.

 

But chairman Shepherd is being offered a role as chief executive after selling his £37.6million stake to Ashley in the £133m club takeover.

 

Shepherd has been involved at St James’ Park for 16 years — and was a very reluctant seller.

 

But sports store tycoon Ashley recognises Shepherd’s experience in running the Geordies and plans to make use of it. (The Sun)
