Jimbo 175
didn't see the fight but a great result by Hatton, a true great, and a British boxing legend. Ricky Hatton showed America what all the fuss is about with a stunning fourth-round knockout of Jose Luis Castillo at the Thomas and Mack Center, Las Vegas. Hatton had failed to show his best form during points victories against Luis Collazo and Juan Urango in his last two outings - also both in Las Vegas - and needed to produce something special to win over his growing band of Stateside sceptics. He delivered in some style, dominating Castillo throughout a contest that ended abruptly after two minutes and 16 seconds of the fourth when a crushing body shot left the Mexican crumpled on the canvas and unable to beat referee Joe Cortez's count. Castillo, a former WBC lightweight champion, was willing to stand and trade with Hatton, a tactic that showed his undoubted bravery, but was a recipe for defeat against his quicker, stronger opponent. The opening exchanges were frenetic, Castillo briefly put his glove down - it was ruled a slip by Cortez - and Hatton soon followed up by landing squarely with two right uppercuts. A clean left hand in the closing moments of the opening round cemented the Mancunian fighter's early dominance and he continued in the same vein during the second. It was not until the third round that Castillo briefly rallied by landing his first heavy shots, although it was again Hatton who finished the round stronger by dominating some furious exchanges. And, after Castillo was docked a point for landing with a low left hook in the fourth, Hatton seized the moment with a left hook of his own that - after a slightly delayed reaction while brain caught up with body - sent a grimacing Castillo to the canvas to end the fight. The manner of victory is a huge boost to Hatton's hopes of setting up a fight with the man widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Floyd Mayweather Jnr. Geordie Boyo 24
I liked it when he said "There was more action in those four rounds than Floyd has had in his whole career," This fight should have earned him a shot at Floyd Mayweather Jr and I hope he gets it. Jusoda Kid 1
Really? He seems like a good lad I must say. Down to earth. Was in Liverpool for a stag do and he stayed in the same hotel as us. We started having a bit craic with him, he signed autographs and spoke to the fatha of one of my mates on the phone. The next morning him and his mates were coming out the hotel whilst we were waiting for a couple of stragglers and they asked what we were doing. When we said going to try and find a Bar thats open he said hang on then we'll come with you. He was wearing a lasses dress and his mate only had a towel around him. When we were walking along the street a little scouse kid came up to him and said 'I knew you always fought like a girl Ricky' Hatton was pissing himself. He was a top lad with no edge on him whatsoever, really down to earth. I liked him before meeting him but now i have the utmost respect for the lad as a person and a fighter and i just hope he gets out of it unhurt and whilst he's on top. That pic of him in a dress appeared in the sun later that week.

Baggio 0
I stayed up to watch it, not a bad fight but Hatton was holding on too much in the first 2 rounds, great brawl in the 3rd with a big left to the ribs in the 4th. Presented well by Setanta I thought, same presenter as Sky use for the boxing.

Happy Face 29
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/6235742.stm Floyd Mayweather says he is prepared to come out of his short-lived retirement to fight Manchester's Ricky Hatton. Hatton is keen to take on five-weight champion Mayweather after demolishing Jose Luis Castillo on Saturday. "I was retired, but I'll sign to fight Hatton right now," said the American. "Ricky Hatton cannot fight. He cannot box. He throws one punch at a time and then holds. There is no skill to what he does in the ring." Hatton claimed a stunning fourth-round stoppage over Castillo in Las Vegas on Sunday and the 28-year-old said after his victory that his main goal was to fight Mayweather, 30. Both fighters are unbeaten, although Mayweather had previously insisted last month's victory over Oscar de la Hoya would be his final bout. But he looks set to be tempted back to take on the Briton, whose performance against Castillo apparently failed to impress him. "I've tried to let the things he said about me slide by but now he's 'dissing' me on national TV and I want to shut him up," said Mayweather. "I've never wanted to hurt an opponent like I do Hatton. For me, boxing is a science but it will be a pleasure to prove to the world what a great phoney the guy is. "Ricky Hatton is the most over-rated fighter of the last 25 years. He beat an old Kostya Tszyu and he beat an old Castillo who was shot. "I beat Castillo twice and the first time I did it with one hand because the other was so messed up. That was five years ago when Castillo was in his prime." Meanwhile, IBF light welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi insists he is willing to fulfil Hatton's dream of topping a bill at Madison Square Garden. "There's no doubt in my mind that I can beat Hatton," he said. "He's just so flawed. He's so one-dimensional. Against a good fighter like Paulie Malignaggi, Hatton will be exposed. "I don't want to come off as disrespectful because I respect the things Hatton has accomplished. I respect his fan appeal, and he seems like a nice guy. "Me and Hatton could be in Madison Square Garden, or Atlantic City, we can do it anywhere. But not Manchester. He'll body slam me, or bring in chairs if he wants, like in wrestling, and I wouldn't stand for that."
