Guest alex
Wonder where Sima is taking this petty little argument. Actually, I don't.
Isegrim 10017
Beckham's best days are long gone as well. He had a couple of shorter good spells at Real mainly because he occasionally looked like a hard working player in a team full of show boaters. The lack of pace in the Spanish league helped him as well. Fergie got rid of him in the Premierleague at the right time. He would certainly raise Newcastle's market profile (and demand high wages), but I don't think he would add very much on the field.

Isegrim 10017
Apart from his stunning dead ball delivery and excellent crossing? It's his only asset these days. But even that had been mostly rubbish for England for several years - with loads of half-arsed floated crosses from somewhere close to the halfway line. He looked good against the mighty Estonians though...
ewerk 31586
Apart from his stunning dead ball delivery and excellent crossing? Dead ball delivery aye, he wouldn't have anywhere near the same time in the PL on the ball so I have doubts about his ability to deliver decent crosses. Of course its a good point but the Brazillians didnt give anyone time on the ball in the friendly and he played well. EDIT - thinking of wrong game, you know what i mean though. I'd wager he'd not contribute much in a high tempo game but could still win it for you.

Dr Gloom 22510
beckham's still a class act despite the limitations he's always had. he's still got the best right foot in the game plus he looks the fittest he's been since he left man u. i'd take him in a flash, as would the majority of us deep down. Ketsbaia 0
I'd have him on loan during the MLS close season. He's still head and shoulders above Solano and Milner. He might even be able to teach the latter how to cross.

Ally 0
Beckham's delivery is absolutely world class, but it really annoys me how he spends most of the game standing on the half way line crossing it from there. His legs have gone and he can't take it to the byline anymore like he used to for Man Utd, so he's limited to crossing from 40 yards or so. Works sometimes (see England against Estonia) but against a good team I think it makes his teams far too predictable and one-dimensional. Still better than anything we've got though, obviously. Guest alex
He never used to take it to the byline at Man Utd either.
Ally 0
He never used to take it to the byline at Man Utd either. Obviously not in the way someone like Ronaldo would, but look back to say the 1999-2003 when he was probably at his best and he used to take it down that byline with G.Nev loads. Gemmill 47044
Alex is standing firm on this one. I agree btw, he's always been about crossing from deepish.
