take 2 slices of your favourite white bread. Spread each liberally with original heinz sandwich spread. Add a sidgeon of marmite to each. Take favourite flavour of crisps and add to one side. Slice your favourite chedder cheese and add to the other. slap one on top of the other with the toppings facing in. Viola.

I expect he's roughly right for the price of a cup of coffee if he/you/the shop doesn't include wages etc. The reason for the huge mark up is to cover all these extra costs that go into making the coffee and getting it to your table.

The point being the mark-up on coffee is comparatively huge though.

Mark up is huge on loads of things. A sleeve of popcorn costs a cinema about 7p and they can fill quite a few tubs that they then sell for £3/4/5 a pop.

So what's your argument then? Are the cinemas making loads of money or is it all to cover the huge wages they pay their staff?

Probably the latter, cinemas make most of their money from the food, not the tickets.

You reckon? Possible I suppose but I doubt it.

It's true, Sue. Most of the money from ticket sales goes back to the people who make the films. There was a comprehensive breakdown of a typical cinema's earnings in Empire (or some such magazine).
