Gemmill's Sandwich Challenge (Reprise)

I made the best sandwich ever yesterday. Ingredients were as follows:

Parma ham

Fresh basil

Mozzarella

Pomodorino (or something like that) tomatoes (quartered)

Chestnut mushrooms (sliced)

Sliced green chillis (most of the seeds were removed, a few left in for added zing)

Fresh ciabatta, warmed in the oven

This was finished off by putting it in one of those panini press things to melt the cheese/heat it up.

The challenge before you is to beat that for quality of sandwich - my advice on how to approach this is to make the above sandwich first and eat it. After you've done that I would advise taking some time away from sandwich-making altogether, to try to come to terms with how good it is, then SOMEHOW, when you've accepted my genius, try to think of some way to better it.

You've got your work cut out, let me tell you.

Sounds like a fetish site. I think I'd better leave it til I get home.

Meenzer clearly reeling from the bombshell sandwiched between two slices of bread in the opening post though.

The green chillis are a touch of genius. A little doubtful that the correct mushrooms have been used.

Take one oven fresh stottie, as fresh and sniffily lovely as poss

Cut it in half, as neatly as possible

Line the inside with Lurpak, not the low fat crap either

Pile inside the stottie an entire share sized packed of Walkers Sensations, Caramalised onion and Balsamic Vinegar flavour.

Place on top of the crisps the second half of the Stottie

Apply lots of pressure on the top until the contents are nicely smashed to smithereens and embedded in to the bread.

Cut in to quarters

SCRAN

hmmmmmmmmm mmmm

That sandwich doesn't work tbh, and is far too much hassle. My sandwich of a Bernard Matthew's turkey slice on a Mighty white spread with Stork margarine is far better.

Ellie, as nice as crisp sandwiches are, they're for bamps! Mine pisses all over that one.

Mancy - haven't started the new job yet man!

Renton - do you seriously eat Bernard Matthews meat? As for telling me my sandwich doesn't work?! Fool.

I have a special sandwich i make every now and again when i have the right type of Bagel. One of the M&S makes, cant remember what they call it.

Per Bagel.

3 Rashers of the finest lean back bacon

3 large slices of Brie

Toast Bagel, Grill Bacon and gently warm Brie. Place Brie in the bagel first, then bacon straight from grill into bagel. Leave for 30 seconds to encourage the right extent of cheese melting, then slice in half. Serve with a side of ketchup.

Man-sandwich tbh.

Ffs, do you think I'd eat that shit?

Seriously, your sandwhich is a waste of time. Sandwiches are for work, but you'd have to make that, and eat it, at home.

My tip for getting a top sandwich is to leave your office, go to the nearest Pret a Manger, and take your choice of delicious sandwiches. M&S or Fenwicks are worthy alternatives.

Brie and bacon sarnies are nice.

Sammy, would you have mushroom on a cheese and tomato pizza? Yes. So how does it all of a sudden not work in a sandwich. You and Renton are WRONG!

Forgot to mention btw, the mushrooms had been pre-cooked in olive oil. It just gets better.

That pisses over Gemmill's attempt, for starters.

The quality of Brie and Bacon is paramount.
